Thanks for watching this video. I don't usually do this repair as its easier just replacing the stater. If its broken though I certainly won't be doing anymore damage. Luckily this repair was quite simple and straight forward. Please consider subscribing and thank you again.

That is what I needed to see because I really mistreated my lawn tractor by not taking care of fuel stabilizer etc before winter. This afternoon I will completely overhaul the engine by using the hints and instructions from your videos! Thank you so much 😊 👍👍

The mower just got here but we'll see what it needs directly. I usually use old Snapper 00 grease for gears. BLESSINGS!

@@HomeGaragechannel It's what Snapper recommended in their gear boxes for riders and hand mowers. In between gun grease and oil. Gets in the nooks and crannies and hangs around.

@@HomeGaragechannel Did years ago. That's why it said SNAPPER 00 grease on the squirt bottles. Now I think Snapper took their name off it; just 00 grease. Acts like the same stuff. I've used this stuff in Snapper mowers that the differential cover had slack between the housing and the axles and the gears still worked. It was so old it had a REVERSE on the shifter on a HAND mower. # or 3 1/2 horse with the goofy pull straight up starter. I filled the 85 up after I got the new pinion gear and cleaned the leaves out of the cover. Works just fine.

Hi, do you have a video with the same problem with a Troy-Bilt, Briggs Startton engine (Electric Start). Don't know if it is the harness or the starter. Thank you & continue doing a good job!

I'm trying to put back the harness connection close to the muffler side; there are two cables that looks like ground but confused me. I charged the battery but is not doing anything when I turn the key. If you have any ideas please let me know. Thank you.👍 Excellent job!

do you have have volt meter? after charging the battery to full, let me know what the voltage is.

Hello, nice vid. but I notice the gear on the motor is below the flywheel after the reinstall. Does the gear travel upward to engage the flywheel before rotation? Thanks..

that very good of you to notice that and Yes, it doesn't move up two engage the flywheel when the starter is activated.

Did not check the ground off the key start, the key start itself, just go straight too the starter motor. Should by the way check too see if voltage is getting too starter. A Harbor freight circuit tester can do that.. About 6 bucks without coupon.

I have one but only cranks and won't start but if I pull the cord it starts perfectly fine. What could it be?

Wow that's a strange one. Is the battery terminals on correctly? I wonder if its spinning backwards with the key start?

exact same problem I am having, battery fully charged, won't start with key, but will with pull cord.

I did. New gas, new spark plug and new battery. The cord pulls freely but won't start.

I have a Toro looks to be the same system I inherited from a family member. The battery is maintaining 13 volts but I don't feel or hear any activity from the starter. I have a receipt that a new ignition was done 2 yrs ago. Any ideas? Please & Thank you.

Sure bypass the key switch by putting power directly to the starter.

ulitepilot aka Zombie Dave in my experience with key start mowers, the battery has to be brand new, or fully charged, the carb has to be in perfect condition, also the coil has to be perfectly gapped, and spark plug clean, and or new, and brand new gas, for a electric keystart to start the mower without having to use the pull rope.... In my personal opinion of course.

To be honest I didn't have a clip of it starting on the key start only the pull start. The clip of it turning over was still during trouble shooting.

Too short, You skipped over all the important parts, Just to show a bolt being turned. Then you started it with the recoil instead of the battery.
