I have been a Hendrix nut for more than 40 years and have been performing some of his tunes professionally for the last 25 years. His music is so important and sacred to me that I refuse to play one of his tunes unless it is done correctly -- that goes for everyone in the band. At almost every gig, someone comes up to me and says "Man, you sounded just like Jimi on that tune! How did you learn that?" I always refer them to your KZfaq Channel. I believe in musicians finding their own voice, but when it comes to Jimi, I am happy to try and let him speak through me in HIS voice. Your covers are spot-on. Not only the notes, but the tone, touch and feel. That is not an easy thing to accomplish. It is very clear how much time, effort and love you have devoted to learning these songs. I know, because I have tried to do the same, but not as exhaustively has you have. I have learned so much from you! I am a visual learner -- don't read music -- and your vids have everything I need. Just wanted to let you know you have a big fan out here in CA. I have been learning from your videos for years and then playing the tunes live, keeping Jimi's memory and music alive in my own small way. Thanks again, Greg, for helping me to do that. Peace, Brother!

I love watching guitarists' fingers and Jimi is my favorite musician so to see how he might have played these is fantastic. Makes me appreciate him even more if that's possible. This is one of the 1st Hendrix songs I loved when I was 16 and It is still one of my favorites now that I'm 65 AND I still listen to JIMI play it. Appreciate it Greg. My personal favorite, don't think I can name just one.as I have too many. Oh yeah, I some people think he only played with a pick, really!!

Thanks for posting this! It's one of my favourite pieces by Jimi and I've loved it since I first heard it at the age of 14 on the loose ends album that I have on 8 track and vinyl. Listened to it last night at the age of 47 and thought "I bet I can play this" was trying to learn by ear from the record but it was a pain keep lifting the needle and putting it back a few seconds so I searched KZfaq to make it easier and found this. Great job, I'll have it down way quicker now.

Really well done. Great tone as well. I worked this out when I first started playing years ago, no helpful hints or modern technology...quite a challenging chord progression given Jimi's technique, especially when you've just got ears to rely on. Very satisfying piece of music to play.

g tribuzy Yeah, these Pure Vintage 65 sound really good. They often describe them having a piano-like tone. Hendrix's Monterey black strat was a 65 (veener fretboard, transition logo) with greybottom pickups. With the Marshall amp sim, Germanium Fuzz Face, guitar volume rolled back and bridge pickup I get close to his ''Like a Rolling Stone'' tone.

Absolutely lovely! I thought Jimi played with a pick for the longest time, but here especially it’s plain as day he must’ve been finger picking. That or the world’s wildest hybrid picking which seems likely now that I think of it.

K, sing too. So sweet how you could do the dive. I just leaned on er heavy. Ever learn stuff off when he played with Buddy? Ya darn right the neighbours heard Power to Love! Jaja! There is this one cat from way back. I haven't checked in years but as a guitarist and a player of Hendrix, this guy was the business! Retrolee09. Pretty sure. They took most of his old stuff down. All live stuff too! He mixed it perfect and showed you it was all real at the beginnings. Ima go see if I can't find something.

What overdrive are you using? Such a beautiful clean tone just slightly breaking up, single coil neck pickup. To me it's the perfect blues tome as a lot of people go way too crazy with distortion.
