The problem is lots of those moppets, unicyclists, bikers, etc. don't know the law of traffic and are a danger to pedestrians and motorists. If they behave like a civilize crowd it will be wonderful. They should be require to get a license, training to respect crosswalks, traffic lights, etc. Until then is a useless system.

Fun fact the very first car was restricted to 4mph due to it being dangerous, you had to have a flag man that waved a red flag to warn pedesterians that its coming incase they got knocked down, and you had to have a mechanic with you at all times. Now we all are driving cars.

Ridiculous to ban what scares YOU when it's got a proven track record of at least being generally safe even at high speeds. Yes many deaths but thousands times more users than deaths.

It also requires no gas. If you live in a city then these are a great means of transportation for somebody strapped for cash. Been riding an electric uni for over a year and love it. Ride it everywhere. Feel safer on the uni that my electric bike. Uni is way more agile and much more fun to ride. If you have not ridden one, then you really have no idea what your missing. Overall, most convenient means of transportation yet. Single wheel between your feet at 50 mph, feels like your flying! And yes, you can stop faster then you would think on these uni's.

@@rashad123us pothole on a motorcycle isn't pretty, either. On an EUC if you're going the max speed (motor at 100%) then any bump or dip will cause a fall. But if you slow down so the motor isn't at 100%, then you can survive any pothole, bump, or dip that requires less than 100% to climb out of. Basically you need some headroom to survive bumps and potholes. And regardless, just like on a motorcycle, your best defence is to use your agility and avoid them.

They should be legal- something as compact and versatile as an EUC really is the future- But they shouldn't be able to go 50 mph. That's just too plain dangerous. Or maybe they should be split into two segments. Anything capable of highway speed should need a license just like motorcycles do. Anything slower should be in the same lane as bikes. It's too unregulated at the moment.

You can find some starter used ones for under 1k on eBay, most of them support up to 250, that's where the cut off is unless you go higher-end, & therefore more expensive. GL to any beginners. I got 16X and Z10 (ninebot) almost a year ago. ngl still learning how to ride it 🤣

Renewables alone will never power our entire country unless everyone is ok with having blackouts constantly. These forms of energy are expensive and far from clean. The best chance there is to move away from fossil fuels is nuclear power but that is a scary idea to a lot of people based on the history.

It's not that they are ILLEGAL. They ship to the end consumer as a legal product. Once the end user unlocks the speed in the software to above 15-17 MPH, THEN they become ILLEGAL.

Um, no. Most models don't ship with any speed lock. That's specific to Kingsong branded EUCs. Also they're not illegal at any speed. They don't meet any definitions currently on the books.

NYC's present road distribution is about 2.5% bicycle lanes and 97.5% automobile lanes, as estimated by Urbanity! which painstakingly measured those figures. However, NYC has a much higher percentage of bike lanes than most other cities in north America. NYC used to have much wider sidewalks until they become repurposed for automobile storage. Hence, it's difficult to sympathize with drivers complaining about bike lanes when drivers already get free usage of most of the roads while using the least efficient form of travel ever made.

For all the talk about how EUCs should be adopted in cities, who’s going be liable or take any responsibility when an EUC rider crashes into a pedestrian, causes a traffic accident, or a EUC malfunctions at 40-50 mph and injures/kills the rider? These are all inevitable and not hypothetical - none of these EUCs are registered, there’s no certification or licensure, and I doubt that any EUC rider has motorist insurance. It’s one thing to do this recreationally in a park, but there needs to be a lot more thought and discussion about the practical ramifications of using EUCs that are sharing roads with cars and trucks in NYC traffic.

More of these are actually better for traffic on roads because they take up less space than a car, they can split off into bike lanes when there is traffic, and can even slow to the point they can divert to sidewalks at intersections. And hell, if someone crashes into you with these it'll do considerably less damage than a 2,500 pound vehicle would do.

Pay road tax, registration fees, and insurance monthly then you have rights to the road. BTW the carbon footprint on these toys is NO better than a car. Car's do not have LIon batteries that need to be buried away for years and years. And most of all - EUCs become 40mph projectiles on road with debris flying all over in a crash. This isn't progress, we are going backwards. People who ride these electric vehicles are a liability and dangerous on road. How is this still a thing? Please drive these toys in private property. Every other country in the world understands this.

You do know just because it can go that fast doesn’t mean your actually going that fast if your a smart rider you know when you can and can’t push those speeds

If your stopped you can't stand on the wheel, as it don't balance you. I just don't think you get how these work, go check out a videos with a guy named Wrong way he's what got me into buying wheels and now I have 3 and love them all.

Guess what happens to someone that crashes their bike at 25-30 miles per hour? Or a motorcycles for that matter? They fly the fuck over the handle bars because no one is gonna maintain their grip at those forces.

@@missiblyu7360 the 90s wants it's complaints back. they are going for dirt bikes but never cared about masks. and don't care about weed these days. OWs are the same category as EUCs. Like, there's a lot of racism that goes on in NYC, but you're barking up a particularly friendly tree.

They go at least 50mph some maybe faster or are I ride a ebike that does 44+mph

Only slowing traffic for those trying to do 55+ in a 35-45 speed limit road. You go the speed limit and actually pay attention to your surroundings and no one gets hurt.
