On that ratcheting 15-N-1 there's usually a neutral setting that allows it to perform like a standard screwdriver.

Good for you! My dad encouraged me to become an electrician back in the 1970s when women were rare (once again, lots of us during WWII). You have to pick and choose whom to learn from and this channel is an outstanding choice. I really like the emphasis on safety and leaving things in better condition than you found them. I also like Dustin's 'don't be that guy' attitude toward doing work the next tradesman can understand and cope with right out of the box. My parents are gone, I'm running the family firms now - GC, electric/HVAC and plumbing with my brothers. Something I learned as an apprentice has stood me well in hiring to this day: Dudes who have to prove their machismo are death (literally in our profession) on the job. If the guy has a mucho-macho attitude ('120V isn't enough to kill a real man, Dustin mentions that one at least every other video), I don't hire him. If he can't read, no job. Code changes all the time and frequently surprisingly in well-settled areas. You have to stay informed. Best of luck to you - This channel is an inspiration to all of us who strive to be better every day.

I did however learn a lot. I was on every kind of job from average service, to full on service changes, to a giant commercial job that I was a "lead" on. I was one of 5 guys and was my main leads second hand when our 2nd year wasn't around. I just became in charge of the other 2 first years as I put in more effort than they did and my work was cleaner. My leads words not mine haha

I loved the Klein 11-in-1 tool...then the magnetic version came out and it's 110% mo betta. No longer do you have to hunt for your bits when you drop your screwdriver and it explodes apart like your guts after a bad food truck burrito.

I use the heavy duty 11in1. It is so much better than the standard 11in1. I always twist the dainty bit holders on the standard. I will get the magnetic, I hope they make it in heavy duty.

My favorite right now is the Milwaukee Electricians Multi Driver. It is the only one I have found that has the “Combi Tips”. Which combines a flat with a Robertsons, and flat. If you look at components in the US and Canada, they all now have a combination head which incorporates the Robertson required under the Canadian Codes, with the flat required under the American Codes. The combi bit, is the choice, because it actually fits the head of all the screws. Second, is the Ideal with the conduit reamer, and the thread chasers.

You didn't talk about the reamer? I guess it's not much of a driver, but it took me way too long to realize it doubles as a flat head. Also, I have the Klein 15-in-1 (non-ratcheting) and I had the exact same thought about Jurassic Park. Every time I pick it up I have to open the end and spin it around a bit. :)

The nut driver comes in very handy during commercial remodels of older buildings. I've ran into one job where they seemed to have used every size nut to secure pipe, boxes, etc. The only down side I found about the driver is the weight that it adds to your belt and there have been times when you need the socket to be slightly deeper. Also it does become easier to pull apart once you break it in (or drop it a few times 😂)

I'd add the Klein 7-in-1 Flip Socket (32900-4 or 32900-5) to the list... it works with those adjustable length screwdrivers to make a nice all-in-one carry option. All three are also impact rated and the shaft can be used in your drill/driver. Another multitool screwdriver always in my bag... a Wiha 38051 insulated driver with bits.

The adjustable ones that hold bits in the back I like them best because they go right into an impact driver and they hold my bits in my tool pouch

The adjustable length screwdriver is cool. Got that one too, and it holds standard 1/4" bits. So replaced the ones I don't need (Robertson and Xeno) with Pozidriv. And you can remove the shaft and put it in your screwgun, it's actually rated to use it in an impact driver.

10:12 one nice things about all Klein’s (well, mostly all, that is) multi drivers….can take bits out and move around to different drivers and setup “what ya like” best (or buy certain bits that didn’t get). Can ya tell I use all these as well😆👍🏻 Also, ever try Wera/Wiha multi drivers, cuz they pretty good too, imo, and have some use daily.

The multi nut driver would be a great tool for a cable company line maintenance/construction worker. Many of the pole and strand mount hardware uses a number of different nutdrivers from 3/8 to 3/4.

I used to carry a drill and an 11in1 with me for general stuff, but since that 14in1 came out I carry that, its stubby little brother, and my 12V impact since you can remove the shaft and put it in a driver.

The benefit of ratcheting screwdrivers for me in the low voltage industry, is it allows you to hold the screw in place (think flat screws) while holding the driver when resetting the hand position for the next twist. With a traditional driver, resetting the hand position for the next twist often ends in the driver slipping out of the slot. The increased handle size of the ratcheting driver I use is nice for my fat hands. Others might complain about the increased handle size.

So I have an 11 in 1 sitting in my vehicle cupholder right now 🤣 Like you I prefer the extended reach model of their screwdriver because I found the shorter one wouldn’t go into breakers fairly consistently. So I was glad when they came out with the longer bit version. I really do like my multinut driver though, but it hasn’t convinced me to take all my long shaft nut drivers out of my bag. I still carry a 1/4” and a 5/16” extra long shaft nut driver because sometimes this multi tool won’t reach into small spaces that I need to get into so you need the longer reach and it’s generally on the smaller fasteners. I also keep a drillbit nut driver for my impact 1/4-3/8” in my bag all the time because I don’t want to dig one out. I still carry a large flat head demolition driver with a metal but cap for just beating on stuff and it’s not even a fancy brand, I think it’s just dewalt... but you always need a tool like that to keep from tearing up the good ones. As for my stubby, I have a teeny tiny little craftsman model that’s nothing more than an knurled piece of aluminum with a quarter inch driver hole in the middle so you can put a bbit in there or an extension. It will make a stubby that is maybe an inch or so long if you just put a little small bit. I really like it and it doesn’t weigh hardly anything. You just have to try hard not to lose it.

That nut driver is huge. A coworker has one. It's a good idea to throw in a bag for just in case I guess. I mainly use 1/4 and 5/16. Klein has a nut driver with just those 2. That's the one I carry. As rare as the others are I carry small impact nut drivers and just pop them in when needed

I like using the klein 6 in 1 extended multi bit screwdriver.. I also have an Ideal brand 6in1 but its not as long as the klein version.. I like using them to wire up panels because they have 1/4 and 3/16 flat head and also Phillips 1, 2.. with 5/16 and 1/4 nutdriver.. klein is always the best buy imo.. I have everything klein in my tool bag..

I don't like the ergonomics of klein screwdrivers, but you can get a whole lot of torque on them. The ideal is a good driver, feels great in the hand - a little harder to get a ton of torque on than the klein. The biggest turn-off to the klein, was back in the day it was a 5 in 1 and lacked a 1/4" nut driver.

I'm pretty sure I have the only $80 Klein 11-in-1. I have a hard time trying to NOT lose the bits and have to keep buying more.

Does anyone actually use the torx in the multi screwdrivers? I really wish they would replace the t10 and t15 with more common sizes. I find most screws encountered are t25 and maybe sometimes t27. It almost annoys me when I come across a torx screw and I'm like wait I got that and then pull out the multi to find no I don't have it. I really wish klein and other brands milwaukee etc would catch on that t10 and t15 really aren't common. Like Phillips most are p2 and 2nd would be p1 I think haven't come across many p3 and I just saw a p4 screwdriver recently. I found the 6 in 1 spintight to be the sweet spot a co-worker had the 5 in 1 and I forget what we were doing and of course they didn't have the socket we needed but my 6 in 1 did, the 7 in 1 another co-worker had and I forget what the extra socket was but I don't think they ever ended up using it and was just a waste extra weight and bulk. Its just a pain because most places only stock the 7 in 1 now and you have to search the web for the 6 in 1 and order it.

It‘s interesting to see that you use completely different tools than we do in Germany. We mostly use tools by Knipex, Wera, Wiha, Jokari, etc.

Knipex is pretty common. I just started using Knipex, Wiha and Wera. Wiha and Wera are starting to show up around here. Most electricians are so set in their ways. The ones that care about quality only buy Klein, and the clowns who don’t care about quality buy grocery store quality tools. I don’t get it, you do this for a living, why wouldn’t you want to make your job more comfortable and easier?

I am mostly confused that all shown screwdrivers aren't isolated up to the top as the screwdrivers all german electricain use are.

A lot of people here love knipex, but he made a video before of his tools and he has multiple tools, his cheap tools and his knipex when he needs them. He doesnt want to beat up his knipex tools like his kleins, they could handle the beating but they cost more to replace, so he doesnt wear them out faster.
