The Electro-Harmonix Superego Synth Engine is a multi-dimensional effect based around Freeze technology. This polyphonic pedal offers 3 capture modes and a surreal glissando effect, allowing the Superego to 'Gliss' or morph between frozen notes and chords. The Electro-Harmonix Superego Synth Engine offers ethereal, infinite sustain and continuous layering in Latch mode or Momentary effect switching for graceful fading in/out of captured sounds. Plus, the EH Superego can simply Auto freeze as you play, freeing up time for sonic adventures with its independent effects loop.

I bought this pedal a few weeks ago, did my first gig with it last saturday, i play in a drone/ambient duo, and this thing is like a third member of our band, and the build in effect loop is just so cool, i put a small clone and my ring thing in it and boy! its crazy, reminded me of some of the stuff you can do with the Space station... i love it, it makes droning much easier, add a loop station to that and you can have layers upon layers of stuff...

Sounds brilliant with a Vibrato along with some light delay and chorus.

That's very true. You may need to use cheaper chorus/phaser/delay pedals(EH nano series?) to get the most out of it. You also have to play chords/notes kinda loud sometimes to get the freeze effect to hit in. I just want to take this opportunity to say that I love Andy's guitar playing. The more I watch these PGS videos(It's becoming an addiction!!) the more that he's becoming one of my favourite guitarists. Thanks!!

it has a built in effects loop for the frozen sound and the glissando mode from the HOG. he didn't show it, but you can also layer chords by turning up the first knob. maybe that doesn't make it "better" but it sure has more features.

Your demo is 50x better than EHX's own demo. I already thought it was a pretty cool pedal, but you demonstrated a solid real-world example (recreating "Shine On You Crazy Diamond"). Gotta get this.

i love how EHX just separates a pedal or combines 2 pedals together to make "new" products. This is basically the gliss section of the HOG and the Freeze combined. I still want one though haha.

I saw this on another post and hated it. I didn’t even get through the whole thing. I see Andy’s demo and I’m kinda of digging it. At least I “get it” now. I’ve bought a couple of pedals from PGS and have always had a great experience. It’s to the point now if I hear about a new pedal I look here first. If I don’t see it I probably won’t buy the pedal. Not trying to slob on PGS, just stating my opinion. You guys ROCK!!!! Thank you.

I feel like all of EHX's pedals are similar in many ways. Most of them are just slightly tinkered. If anyone knows a lot about electronics and circuit boards, I'd be curious to know how similar they actually are since so many of their features can be interchanged with each other.

When the pedal freezes a set of notes, the feedback loop filters out nearly all of the lower frequencies, resulting in that metallic ring. Every freeze pedal will sound like this for that reason.

Hey Man! Your videos are pretty amazing! Since there are lots of Electro-Harmonix pedals and I dont have money to buy all of them... I have doubts among Electro Harmonix Micro Synthesizer Pedal, POG2 and Electro-Harmonix Superego Synth Engine... Are they comparable? I like the possibility of making organ and cello sounds in POG 2, but Superego Syth pink floyd sound video is amazing. Can you give me any hint?

Hi Andy, just a quick question for a effects loop newbie. Will you still be able to use the pedals put in the Superego effects loop when not using the Superego? Like just using my delay and reverb in the effects loop with my other pedals outside of the loop as usual. Thanks!

love the pedal and the way you show it to us :) there is another demo by a guy who plays a vai-looking ibanez (yuck) who shows us neato ways to combine this pedal with other effects...it is a nice one to watch after seeing the basics that it can do alone...

Nice work on Shine On there :) Gilmour did this on one of his more recent tours using a sound-on-sound delay method; this looks like a much easier way to do it.
