Hello guys. In this tutorial I cover the basic Charleston shuffle step and break the move down part by part to make it easier to practice. Let me know if you have any comments. In the next 2-3 videos, I'll go over some variations you can do with this step.

Even I am not a native speaker I must say you make the best explained Tutorials about Electro Swing on You Tube. The difference is, you seam realy want to teach something and not just to show how good you can dance. Thank you a lot and keep going! :-)

Thank you very much. I am glad you find it helpful. Usually I show how good I can dance in the dance videos that I make, and as for tutorials, the most important thing is to break down each movement. Maybe my background as a maths and science tutor helps with how I explain things. :)

Awesome! Life is full of pleasant coincidences. Thank you. Yes, I thought it's best to show the move at the start to give an idea of how it looks in action. That way we know what we're going towards. :)

This is the best tutorial I've seen yet, and it's because you break it down into individual parts that can be practiced instead of just being like "here's how to do the move" and expecting me to practice whole thing in its finished state. If I could do that I wouldn't be looking at tutorials, would I?
@MatthewAshworth
@MatthewAshworth 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, exactly. I am glad my approach of breaking it down into parts is helping and working. Best of luck in practising the moves! :)

You are very welcome! I am pleased they are easy to follow. With most dancing moves, it's 20% learning how to do them and the other 80% is constant practice, I'd say. I'll be making more tutorials. Will try to do another one soon. Been super busy as of late.

Hey Matthew, I watched all your tutorial videos and I keep practicing along. But as I progress, I wonder, what my arms should do, since every tutorial (not only on your channel but on whole youtube, so it seems) explains the movement of the feet and legs, but there aren't any tutorials for the arms. Could you imagine doing a tutorial for that? Thanks you are awesome :)
@MatthewAshworth
@MatthewAshworth 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks. Yeah, I know what you mean. Usually it's good to learn some feet moves first and then to start integrating the arms in gradually so that you are not simultaneously thinking of both feet and arms. But since you are already getting comfortable with feet moves, then it's a good idea to add in arm movements. I can try to add some arm tutorials in as well (although admittedly I only know a limited moveset for these so far).

The hardest part for me is keeping my balance, do you have any tips for that?
@MatthewAshworth
@MatthewAshworth 3 жыл бұрын
I'd say, try to first do this motion without lifting the feet off the ground. So, just sliding a foot along the floor to its correct position. When you get comfortable with that, try with the foot getting raised. Another exercise you can try is to simply practice the twisting motion of the foot you're standing on while just lifting the other foot (without moving it anywhere). Hope this helps!

They can affect how easily you slide and shuffle. I'd recommend something that can glide easily. Same goes for the floor surface. It's usually better on smoother floors.
