Most of the time when I watch stuff on youtube, it's a casual activity. But when you post a new set I get out my studio cans, go to a quiet place with no distractions, and make it my entire existence for a while. And then I usually go back to watch it again a few times over the next few weeks so I can really absorb it. It's that good.
@ToyKeeper6 жыл бұрын
More specifically, you have a good ear for sound design, harmonics, sound combinations, expressive tonal changes over time, building and breaking, the use of space / sparseness, interesting chord progressions, and painting an overall warm and welcoming scene which feels like a vibrant sunset for my ears. My favorite so far is the set you turned into 35 Winters.

Thanks heaps it really means a lot that you'd take the time to listen to my noodlings so thoughtfully. I just squeeze them out so it's lovely to know that they resonate out there. Cheers :)

It's clear from some of your other videos that you're capable of more... like the theme of 2017, for example. But at this point in my learning process, your simpler compositions are a lot more educational for me. It's like chasing a rabbit -- close enough for me to see, but far enough ahead to guide me a fair distance in the right direction. Meanwhile, your more advanced works are far enough ahead I can't really even see the rabbit. BTW, do you get synesthesia, like hearing colors or seeing sounds? Your sound design has unusually good synesthetic color and texture harmony that I don't often encounter, so I wonder if you also perceive it as more than just sound.
@johnrichardson32975 жыл бұрын
ToyKeeper I have Synaesthesia, I can tell you this melody matches Drax - Amphetamine which many artists do refind and re-imagine. I do agree. Great composition! ;). It’s trance from our generation!

Now here's a true artist. There are plenty of enthusiast synth channels, focused on playing with synths, focused on the hardware...nothing wrong with that. and then there are the few that are focused entirely on the music. ...and even rarer still, are the truly inspired

@@MrMarcLaflamme it was dogshit and I always wanted to do it again but never did! Perhaps I should. Maybe a livestream and we all write some tunes together? I need to put together my set for Ibiza, so maybe a few sessions to work that out I should do live? Whaddya reckon?
@MrMarcLaflamme2 жыл бұрын
@@EhsanGelsi I didn’t think it was bad! But if you did it again that would be awesome and hopefully the streams would pass the Ehsan seal of approval to stay up a bit longer so I could watch later (time zones are a bitch haha). Thanks for stopping by! In sad news, I killed the MIDI cup just two days ago, it escaped my slippery grip and the old 'catch the fall with my foot' failed me, and the MIDI cup shattered into a million pieces. just got my digitone yesterday. I've never really gotten into FM synthesis, but with the digitone it's just so great and I already fell in love with that sound. Are you using the peak here mostly for the basses?
@ahzootube4 жыл бұрын
Amazing! I am thinking about getting digitone but I also thought of the Peak. Since I cannot buy at the same time. Which one you recommend first? I got a tr8s, make noise 0 coast and minitaur

I picked up the peak & was thinking of getting the Digitone next this video has certainly embedded that idea, it's not often i sit through these things all the way through let alone twice so well played. I wondered did you have any external effects with this setup?

As a super newbie into synthesis (i've been playing around with VST's such as Omnisphere) and I've just purchased my first hardware syntth (DM12), my next purchase is the digitakt. I'd love to know how you actually got all this working? I'd love a breakdown vidoe of what you did to get all of this to come together. Also, it was freaking amazing. Subbed!

Ummm. Wow. Absolutely amazing.... Would love a setup/workflow walkthrough;)
@EhsanGelsi6 жыл бұрын
Aww thanks! For sure I can do that. Tho it's the simplest yet! 2 MIDI cables chained from Digitakt, and 3 channels into the mixer - one for each box! No external effects or nothin. Put together using my standard set construction per my How? video. Any questions let me know, and I'll plan to do a vid in the future showing it off. :)

So I'm kind of obsessing over two things.... 1) the (assuming it is) patch done by the peak that swells like a huge bass horn in the song starting around 3mins or so....care to share how that patch was done? 2) again....if you care to share....I've noticed repeat use of some kick snare samples in alot of tracks (because they are good and cut through the mix) ...were those part of a free pack or stock digitakt? Feel free to keep your secrets but figured I'd ask anyway! Killer stuff....bought the album on bandcamp today
