Elemental Alchemy
Hello Friends! Something a little different today! This is a 7 cup Flip Cup and Drag on a 24x24 inch gallery wrapped level 3 canvas.
My pouring medium today was 70% Elmer's GlueAll and 30% water mix, with a squirt of Liquitex Pouring Medium, and then some Floetrol.
Sincere thanks to Julie Cutts for her recipes and experiments, it's lovely to have alternative recipes to use for different effects. I DID NOT add silicone to my paints.. I don't like cleaning it off canvases if I want to varnish and I get cells anyway without silicone.
Flip Cups were what I did most when I first started painting, I've always enjoyed that Element of Surprise when you drag the cup and see what you've got..I love that anticipation.
Element seems to be a big word for this pour, in several respects.
There are three different Metallics in this piece, Gold, Copper and Silver, all Elements on the Periodic Table.
There's the element of surprise, regarding what happens when you flip the cup over.
I also rotated the direction of half of my cups, so that the spot I poured into was facing one direction in half and the other direction in the other half. It always is so intriguing to me that cups layered the exact same way produce a different result just influenced by direction. Mind blowing lol..
Alchemy refers to the process of using magic to turn elements into Gold.. I love the magic and mystery of that thought, the 'what if I' part, the curiosity of it, the experimentation.
I used very bold rich colors in this pour to go with the 3 Metallics.

There's another Element of Surprise.. my cat! She put her paw on it when it was almost done.. she didn't care for the feeling at all haha! I dont mind, I painted this for myself, not to sell. And I kind of enjoy that she made her mark on it and is part of the piece now.
Thank you for hanging out with me on this beautiful Sunday afternoon, I hope you all have a wonderful day!
