Hello Friends!
I'm so excited for you all to see this! Heather Mader and I used the same size canvas and color palette and I absolutely LOVE how both paintings turned out!
Our color palette was:
Burnt Orange
Deep Turquoise
Buff Titanium
24K Gold
Cadmium Red Light Hue
Van Dyke Brown
18x24 canvas
We both did ring pours, and some balloon rolls with some really beautiful results!
This was such a happy piece, I was so excited! Both because of our collab and the color palette!
My pouring medium was intentionally on the thick side because I knew I wanted nice separation of colors and rings, not cells or blending.
I used :
Liquitex Gloss Medium & Varnish
Golden's GAC 800
and Elmer's GlueAll
Water to consistency
and Floetrol

I had so much fun creating this painting, I played with the color palette for a few days before and was totally in love with the Golden's Burnt Orange.. such a deep versatile color! Really beautiful and bold but also so delicate where it plays with the gold or the cream color.. just dreamy! The contrast with the dark Van Dyke Brown was gorgeous, and the pop of color from the Deep Turquoise made me very happy and tied it all together. One of the most beautiful color palettes in my opinion, give it a try if you have not before.
I talk about our friendship in this video, about how we have inspired each other and both of us have grown as artists from our conversations and experiences.. I encourage you to reach out and talk to people, make some friends in our community! Its really nice to be able to talk to someone who 'gets it' and is working with the same materials. We have the technology today that allows us, even tho distance separates us, to still talk and video chat (and have painting playdates) simply by using a smart phone! Amazing and so cool!

So as not to bother you, I looked through the comments in hopes that someone else might have asked you for the amounts of LGVM, GAC 800, Water & Floetrol you posted to this video and PM to Paint that you used to mix for this awesome painting. I understand you probably do this by sight & feel, but to me, as a beginner, I've not acquired this ability and fear I never will. Thanking you in advance, if you have a chance, I'd love to know. I can't seem to come up with the quantities or even the colors on my own. 😥 So thanks for your help Mina! Your vids are a delightful experience to watch. Sorry to ask you for even more than what you already do! 😚🐇💗

@@Roxy4utube I usually start with 60 grams (2 ounces) of the LGM&V .. then add about an ounce of paint (@30 grams).. then I stir. If its thick I add a little bit of water at a time, about a teaspoon, until it's almost pourable. That part sometimes takes several additions of water to get there.. then I add Floetrol to fill my cup. I use 16 ounce cups, so 2 ounces LGM&V, 1 ounce paint, about an ounce of water (depending).. then anywhere from 8 to 10 ounces of Floetrol. If I am doing a straight pour I'll make it thinner with more water. If I'm doing a ring pour I'll keep it thicker. You will get the hang of it, dont stress. You want the paint that drizzles off your stick to flow like warm honey, forming a mound on a mound. If it sinks right away, its thin.. use that for a straight pour. This is a time consuming process.. sometimes it takes me 45 minutes to get the paint ready for a 10 min pour lol. Put some music on and get to know your paint.. you'll get there 🥰 I hope this helps! I do have a video called How I Mix My Paint, it's way back in the beginning. (That mix is thin for a straight pour, because of the water I add at the end). I wish you the best of luck!!

@@Roxy4utube the GAC800 is just a squirt, about a teaspoon. That stuff is powerful and will make it take a lot longer to dry, so dont touch or move it at all for a few days if you use it.

@@Roxy4utube in Desert Sunbird I added a dollop of Elmer's GlueAll to all my colors to thicken it up.. I knew I was doing a ringpour..you want thick paint to hold your rings and keep the shape..

I’m inspired to get out my turquoise jewelry tomorrow and live with the desert sunbirds ! And try to play with these colors. It’s so beautiful. Makes me homesick for my old life in Terlingua, Texas and the West Texas Chihuahua Desert ! Those colors!

I'm just watching this - I am afraid of balloon rolls, swipes and wrecking as it can go sour quickly! 😳 I noticed your stress level here (vs other videos) and your deep exhales. 😝 Mina, you made a stunning piece! Its fab, the wings of the bird look in motion. Its gorgeous. I actually saw the bird the other way - beak toward the ring. But i can see it the other way too. Thats the beauty of art!

I think you may be my favourite o i have too many younare IN THERE!! Love your colours you always pick ones ive used but to greater effect. I was getting back to landscapes and brushes that my mum likes but you make me want to buy larger canvases. Just fun to watch too. All the Americans paint outside which is very cool. I'm not really a fan of the balloon roll (probably cause I can't do them well, lol) but Heather is the queen of them and you pulled it off nicely. I admit I was about to Hollar Nooooo, don't touch that canvas it's perfect as is. Omg I thought it was absolutely gorgeous before taking the balloon to it. Whomever chose the colors, well magnificent. Just stunning together. I love your channel and love the laugh, it makes me smile. Cheers!

😂 it's a big one alright! Its actually a charcoal starter. My husband got it for me from Amazon when I told him I was going to start working on big canvasses. I laughed when I saw it but can you imagine using a little creme brulee torch on a 48x60 canvas? It would take all day 😂 my big Torchy and I get along just fine 🥰

I don’t ever hear anyone talking about how torching, besides popping bubbles and bringing cells, also deepens the colors. After you torched this the colors were incredible! Thanks for sharing your art and technique with us. Beautiful!
