Schools in the Philippines, mostly in the province, have this special class for arts, music, dancing, acting, and speech and writing. Which is very much awesome because we don't pay for those things but the children get it free from their respected schools from their teachers as their mentor who will mould them starting from grade 1 up to grade 6 and continue until in high school. My daughters were a choir members at their school, they were taught about voice lessons while playing ukelele but that was before the pandemic started.

Absolutely they played ukulele so beautifully and singing as well. Wow that's my wish to play ukulele they are amazing.Proud Filipino here. May God bless us all.

Bro, elementary students in the Philippines have long had music classes where the students need to learn how to play string instruments, mainly a "Rondalla Ensemble" where 5 different string instruments are used. the students for the most get to choose which one they would be learning to play. Rondalla if I am not mistaken was brought to the Philippines by the Spaniards. The five-string instruments are called Bandurria, Laud, Octavina, Guitar, and Baho de Unas (base). We also have the Rondalla Ensemble in high school. This one is news to me, where every kid was taught how to play a ukulele.

Please note that Public Schools in the Philippines, is where poor families send their children because they couldnt afford Private Schools. I taught in a Publc School, like this one, and students walk long distances, come to class without lunch and have only the barest minimum of school supplies ... thank you so much for this post ... Hi! A Filipino here! Thank you so much for appreciating this kind of thing as I had experience or was once in this type of situation which reminds me of my school in elementary which is a public school cuz they have a special program for the arts which consists of music, arts, theater and dance. Every year they held a recital that showcase each talents the students have, in these, for music they seldom do things like this shown in the video which is synchronized playing of instruments like an orchestra or consists of singers that sometimes shows on tv shows (if you gais know the ramento brothers/siblings) or won singing contests, for the arts, they held an exhibit that contains various of artworks that students do, its either a painting, a sculpture or any artistic piece, for the theater and damce, they did shows that held deep meaning or awareness to the current issues. Additionally, at that one recital, we had a student do motor stunts in which i thought of now like wtf that was not normal for an elem student- and a group street dance that they did during a festival contest as an honorable performance for winning their respective categories. It may sound bizarre but it is indeed true and they held this recital every year which showcased different talented artists within that school.
