The respect from everyone on court after Kalinina’s retirement was truly nice to see. Rybakina not celebrating her opponent’s retirement was very respectable, the kind of sportsmanship that’s good to see these days

@@eusevius03 I would not say the first one as in Juniors a beating, the second one is ok, the third one was retirement due to the pain, and till that moment 2-2 in the third set Iga had won more games than Ryba. Iga has never lost to a player younger than she. Their winning statistics taking into account that Ryba is two years older are in Iga’s favour already now.

@@eusevius03 It was after midnight, 15 degrees Celsius, and Iga felt pain in the main thigh muscle of her right leg, they taped it, but she felt the pain in the third despite of the tape, and she took the decision not to make it any worse and risk possibly Roland Garros. Very mature decision and the scan showed she has not torn anything, it was only a strained muscle. So see you in RG and hope the next match between them.

Terrible awards ceremony, hosts make mistakes, don't know the names of the champion and the finalists, absolute unpreparedness for harsh conditions (rain) and the time for the women's final is not correct at all, play after midnight ... you can't play in one with the men? I should admit that Elena had some luck with the retirements of Kalinskaya, Swiatek and Kalinina and also with the Rome conditions and poor organisation. But that doesn't make her triumph undeserved. Maybe after all these months of bad luck in the tournaments with hard draws, robbed Wimbledon 2000 pts. and playing in WTA250 level courts, she deserved such a luck! Also i saw from her a very big improvement in her playing style on clay in every single aspect - from her footwork to her shots. She starts to feel this surface better and better and that's scary for the opponents. Congrats, Elena, for the well deserved title and i hope that to be a confidence booster for Roland Garros!

The points of Wimbledon tournament weren't robbed at all. That was the logical consequence of Putin's decision and irresponsible attitude from several players who didn't want to get vaccinated against COVID.

Luck? There is no such thing as luck. Every professional players are train to their best form to compete. If you over commit too many tournaments, your own body wears you down physically and mentally. Rybakina too played back to back tournaments which wore her down in the last tournament which means body needs to rest. Those players that retired too played a lot of tournaments. Second, switching from hard court (from before US Open) to clay court surface still takes time to acclimatise as the playing style is totally change. You tend to stretch more, run more to the net and slower pace in ball speed with plenty of top spin. So, there is no such thing as luck. It’s how you manage your career and play on certain tournaments.

@@danlovesayu Kalinina spent 4 hours more than Rybakina on courts because of her ranking. That's why she couldn't battle with equal forces at this final game.

@@danlovesayui didn't say that in bad meaning. But more retirements means less court time, which means more rest and consequently more energy. Of course Elena isn't guilty for the injuries of her opponents, i gave credits to her.

@@DanTony68 That's no excuse. If you can't compete with the best, then there is the exit door. As I said, every professional are well trained. If additional 4 hours will hurt her body, then she never re-condition her body enough to compete in one of the top tournaments in Europe. Coaches knows their players well enough to take on their opponents but have to risk if they are really fit enough to compete and complete the game. It's not just physical strength but mental strength too. If your mind isn't strong enough, your whole body will crumble along with it. If you look at Rybakina over statistics, she grew from strength to strength in each tournament she competes. She doesn't go all out to reach for every single ball. I have watch every game of hers and if you have time to go through it, you will see how a good player and coach manage their game. Rybakina use to whack her balls so hard as if it's her no.1 enemy. Now her game play have improved and controlling the ball on her forehand. She is one of the few tall players that goes to the net often as well.

In this video the WTA showed only almost all wins of Kalinina, and few of Rybakina, although Rybakina won the match. Very biased from the WTA.

I have to agree with you. It happens quite regularly & I share your frustration. Even MORE frustrating (for me) are all of these so-called "commentators" of late! Very few Tennis Specialists. They can easily quote the STATS, but are unable to make specific comments about individual points/shots/rallies etc. Grrrrrr!

I’d like to see a top 10 or 12 that includes the following players - swaitek - Sabalenka - Rybakina - Osaka - Kvitova - Stephens - Krejčíková - ostanpenko - Azarenka - Halep - Andreescu - Raducanu And would love for these 12 to consistently win slams and masters 1000s and 500s on a consistent level. We haven’t had a top 10 with 8 slam winners since 2004/5

WTA never like Russian or ex Russian players. Such a shameful tournament presentation from the organisers as it seems Italy is another US lap dog. WTA did not present the trophy to Elena! That's the most shameful thing and totally ZERO SPORTSMANSHIP! This was definitely a deliberately against Elena because she is an ex Russian. I have no idea why they are mixing politics in sports!!! Look at Elena, so humble and hugging Anhelina treating her like a friend. And she still smile for the trophy presentation. Elena's coach knew what happen but he told her not to worry about it. That's a kinda of coach player need most! It was definitely intentional to force Elena and Anhelina to play at such late hours! 11.00pm!! It's either you are asleep or drunk..........not forcing professional players to play tennis! Players that play such late hours may cost some injuries due to cooler temperatures. Just because of that damn Russia vs Ukraine war, players from Belarus, Russian and ex Russian players have to suffer for no reason. I mean, WHY THE FCUK IS WTA using politics to mix with sports????!!!! We are all here to enjoy the game played by professional players and not here to watch some screwed drama!!!

Да,победить-или умереть.Похоже,эта шизофрения проникла уже и в спорт.Одним словом,проигрыш не допустим.Лучше отказаться от борьбы.Что ж,это-очевидная установка федерации.Политическая на 100%.Жаль.Разные есть взгляды на понятие “сохранить достоинство”.В том,чтобы через боль достоять матч до конца,даже проиграв,намного больше достоинства,чем сняться,почувствовав,что сегодня уже чуда не совершить.Во всяком случае,и такая точка зрения возможна.Я,например ,ни за какие успехи не прощу Медаедю истерику в Астане,когда он снялся после счёта 1:1 с Джоковичем из-за того,что “против него слишком явно были настроены трибуны”.Ангелина тут тоже позабыла,что это-финал “Мастерса”,билеты дорогие,зрителей немало.Да и могла ещё навязать бой Рыбакиной.Но-тут явная шизофрения от федерации.Глупо,ведь финал-уже подвиг.А если уже так политизировать,то победы над двумя россиянками по ходу турнира-уже повод дать пару орденов.Словом,надо было играть до конца.Это не кошмар с ногой Зверева в игре против Надаля на РГ-2022.

Зачем глупости писать? Ангелина правильно сделала, что снялась. В противном случае, с учетом "разрушительного" для соперниц стиля игры Лены в Риме, она бы получила серьезную травму и выбыла бы возможно на полгода.
