As of today, elephants Sarai Mia and Kaavan had a meet and greet at their water trough... while elephant DiPloh has no desire to be around Kaavan so the carers are complying with her wishes.

There are two female elephants at Cambodian Wildlife Sanctuary, but they don't share the enclosure with Kaavan. However, they can see each other and touch through the fence. We hope that at one point, when the elephants are ready, they can be socialised and that Kaavan can share an enclosure with a female partner.

After the tragic death of Noor Jehan at Karachi Zoo, we are putting all our energy into relocating her former partner, Madhubala, to a species-appropriate home. Like humans, elephants mourn the death of family members. We can see that Madhubala misses Noor Jehan very much, as she has been restless for four days and has not slept much. The on-site team is doing their best to comfort her. FOUR PAWS strongly recommends building an elephant sanctuary according to international standards in Pakistan to relocate her. Beside Madhubala at Karachi Zoo, two more female African elephants, Sonia and Malika, are kept in Karachi Safari Park. All four elephants originally came from Tanzania and were brought to Pakistan at a young age. We would be happy to see them reunited in the future. FOUR PAWS will support and plan the relocation of Madhubala to an established elephant sanctuary. However, it is important to clarify that we will not transport Madhubala to another zoo or safari park. She deserves to live in an elephant sanctuary built according to international standards, which requires a large space and infrastructure. We have already started with important preparations for Madhubala, including a detailed assessment of her health, and taking blood samples to determine if she is fit enough to travel. We will keep you updated on the developments in Karachi. Please be assured that we are doing everything in our power to find the best solution for Madhubala. We will not rest until she can roam around peacefully, receiving high-standard care️.

Even if Pakistan's officials say that they will build a sanctuary please don't trust them because they won't. There is no rule of law in Pakistan people are dying and courts are influenced by their army and intelligence agencies (who act like a mafia). All of Karachi is destroyed by Zardari Bilawal's father who is protected by ISI and the army - this man is so corrupt he had destroyed every institution in Sindh/Karachi. He won't give a single penny for Sanctuary. Please save all poor elephants they deserve a better life.
