When there’s a will there’s a way. You people want things easy so take what is most vulnerable and abuse it, but I’m not worried Karma sees everything. Not once in 87 years did any of these idiots stop and say, poor animal. Not once! Until someone cared enough to step in. That’s why Asia has the biggest Karma to pay for all the torture they inflict upon all animals. Too bad I won’t have front row to seat it.

I was watching a video of Greece's working donkeys. They're true beasts of burden working in poor conditions in parts of Greece. Out of kindness and awareness, tourists have reduced the demand for donkey rides but that hasn't helped their situation either. Less profit from donkey rides means less money for care. It's all so sad.

It's almost impossible to imagine 85 years of slavery, abuse, neglect, lack of freedom and a life devoid of companionship. All the different owners she had who will have imposed their will on her. And we all know by now how they do it. She must have given up a long long time ago. Truly heartbreaking. It never ceases to amaze me that mankind can be so cruel but yet occasionally along come people like Lek to restore your faith in humanity. You can see that Somboon trusts her. Truly inspiring. ❤❤❤

I don't believe they mean to be horrible but they are poor with no social safety net. Most industry there is focused on western tourists. It's us going there to ride on the ellies backs or expect them to entertain us as circus performers. It's us who want the wood logs they must drag for our inexpensive furniture. The ladies at Elephant Nature Park retire from work and heal body, mind and soul.

At this point, I don't think that will ever happen. Evil and greed are far too ingrained in too many people's brains. Even those who are not actively harmful become dangerous when they turn a blid eye to injustice and cruelty. I have little to no faith in humanity as whole anymore, but a small part of it (like the people in this video) still gives me hope and a sense of belonging.

When will tourists stop going to the Kerala festival in India when behind the "majesty" of seeing elephants dressed up and paraded around lies unspeakable elephant cruelty. Take away the profit from the public and you end the cruelty.

It will happen but it will take time--social awareness takes generations of painstaking time, work and effort. I think, ironically, when we start to see ourselves and humanity as essentially good (which it is) we will be more aware not only of ourselves but of what drives certain people to cruelty. Sonboon is incredibly lucky to have landed with Lek who is an incredible human being. She just knows elephants. It’s amazing to watch this tiny little Thai lady be hugged and mobbed by the elephants she rescued and cares for. They touch her with their trunks like they touch each other and their young. A truly incredible and unique bond.

The Thai lady is Lek Chandler a master piece of a compassionate soul who has make a difference by creating an enormous shelter for abused animals in Thailand but elephants are her top work. Her shelter is in Chang Mai in Northern Thailand. We are talking about hundreds and hundreds of resqued animals and a huge amount of elephants who were exploited victims of tourist riding experience but also logging and circus but also tourist shows industry as well. Her channels are everywhere in the social media. You will be amazed of what she is doing. She is globally recognized for her contribution and her kindness. She is a very a very humble soul... ❤️ 🙏

How did she even sleep and relieve the pressure off her legs all those years? What a beautiful, amazing elephant, inside and out. Thank you very much, people at Save Elephant Foundation! Asian countries need many more sanctuaries for abused animals because SE Asia treats them especially terribly by exploiting them for profit. I encountered enough atrocities on a holiday in Thailand that were overwhelming. Poor birds in tiny cages sold as trinkets in almost every shop, for example. Poverty is one thing, but blatant disregard and cruelty to other conscious, living beings who were stolen from their animal families and environments is another.

If tourists would stop riding these majestic beauties and cease with the selfies, maybe there would be less abuse. When we were in India we refused to ride the elephants at the Amber Fort, even though we were assured of the stellar care these animals received. When I watched the video and saw the sad look in that beautiful elephant's eyes, it broke my heart. I've never seen an elephant look so thin. She has a strong will to surive after all these years. Thank you to the wonderful, kind-hearted people who rescued her. She looked so happy getting her much-deserved spa treatments and mud baths. It's soul crushing knowing how disgusting people treated these majestic beauties for the own sick gain. I hope karma get all of them. Bless you and bless her!!
