Noticed when you were setting up rifle on range, it was quarter way out I always before going to range take bolt out, rifle in fixed position look through barrel centre on target. Look through scope scope on the same target. Just a little trick to save ammunition and I do really enjoy your show thank you

You won't buy a gun in the U.S that fast. The background check can take an hour on a good day and most often the buyer has to come back in a week. The US is now a communist state run by hard core Marxist communist democrats and Rino republicans.

Fun fact the Picatinny rail system was developed at the military base by me. Also, as an American I have a very difficult time with your process. In America the idea of giving a reason why I want a weapon is absolutely ridiculous.

Always loved the wood stocks, many of them are quite the crafted art (and its' AOK to appreiciate the art in the engineering) but yeah the synthetics & chassis design is just very much smarter & far more practical. Think folk miss the smarts of buffer tube allowing adjustable length of pull. Maybe its just me but I need it adjustable...to get good eye relief with the stock, length of pull needs to be adjustable. If you only shoot standing or prone at a rifle range not a bit deal but standing, prone, out a ute window (for me at least) I need to alter it. Even drivers side to passenger side slight difference. Pistol grips on rifles I think are super under rated, ergonomic & I think makes the gun safer. Nothing better than making a tool better. I'm thinking in your flatter scrub like country you might have to jog on foot to get more camels. If that's the case lighter is better. Way better to control of a rifle is a must & just so smart it probably speaks Latin. I'm just picky set in my ways & maybe wouldn't ever want to save weight with a lighter barrel...only my thinking, I think barrel fatter=barrel better Great video. 2 thuimbs up,

I’m pleased the police are polite. But that process is staggeringly stupid, specifically designed to annoy people out of trying to get a firearms licence. NSW has some annoying stuff but WA is another level of unreasonable. You do know that there were less guns surrendered in 1996 amnesty that SKSs and SKKs imported and sold in Australia before ’96. They just disappeared. A hardware stores were selling “gun coffins”. Lengths of poly pipe with screw caps on each end. And they sold hundreds of them.

Swedish gunlaws are diffrent, but more relaxed on calibers etc. we can buy anything from caliber 45 to 22lr.. Most common is 9.3 and 308 for the large bore calibers. we are alloved 6 rifles on "hunting licenses". We also need a safe, but its quite simple - a safe with correct ratings/markings and if its below 150kg it needs to be permanently mounted to the wall/floor. But the mounting of a 75kg safe need to be "comparable" to a "loose" 150kg safe in practice. Anyway, regards to calibers we have 4 diffrent "groups" of animals and corresponding requirements on the calibers. to hunt the largest animals (moose, bear, wolf, wild pigs) you need a class 1 caliber - 140 grain with 100 meter energy of 2700J or 156 grain E100 2000J. thats practicaly makes 6.5x55, 6.5 cm and similar 6.5 calibers the smallest alloved. Calibers with e100 800J is class 2, thats roe deer and smaller animals.. Other then that we have class 3 wich is weaker centerfire calibers mostly 22 hornet, 22WMR, 9x19. And in class 4 we have 22LR and weirdly enough 17hmr. Anyway, there is no real stipulations about "how a weapon looks" - in the lawbook that is. But the police has had their ideas. For instance the Tikka t3 Tac A1 was a long time forbidden to buy right out, but the T3x with a Tac A1 stock bought later is perfecly legal. Figures. But this aug the agency that regulates hunting and tools for hunting, removed all writing about "looks" so now we can buy 308 AR's if we like.

The reason why a lot of us handed our semi autos in was they paid us more than they were worth, sometimes even double the price. It turned out to be a pretty good con, because if they hadn't paid us good money, a lot of guys would not have handed them in, because they had no idea how many were out there or where they were.

I thought canadian gun laws were a cludge. But our national fierarms program is a dream compared to your laws. In canada, you go do your fierarms course, pass a test, pay for your application/background check, after you pass, you get your PAL card (possessions aquasitions license) then you can go to the store present your card check out a few guns pick the one or 100 you want. They do the transfer paperwork, and you pay for your guns. It takes 20 min. When you need ammo, you go to the store, show them your card, pay, and walk out.

I was always corrected on my pronunciation of tikka and sako and i now say it like a Fin. Here in the UK we have to apply for a licence which requires reason for obtaining which could be hunting or target use. We then need club membership proof or landowner permission and we have to give permission for the police to approach our doctor to ascertain if there are any mental health or physical impairments such as epilepsy which may impact the suitability of a person to own firearms. As we apply we can state the calibers we wish to own which basically falls into three categories for local use. Rim fire for small pests like rabbit with perhaps a .22 centerfire for crows and foxes, a small caliber centerfire for roe deer usually .243(ish) and a larger caliber for large game such as red deer and boar 7mm (ish). Very much larger calibers for say African hunting or for very long distance shooting would require proof of purchase of a hunt or membership of a club with long range facilities or exceptionally your own land with such capabilities. Sound moderators are very much a shall issue item and it is normal to apply for one for each caliber at the time of application. We pay one fee for the initial licence regardless of the number of firearms or moderators on it. It is renewable at cost every five years. Each initial and subsequent licence will necessitate a face to face interview with the local police or civilian assistant in charge of vetting each applicant. Further purchases require another application to have additional items added to the certificate. Ammunition quantities permitted are very much issued in line with your stated need. A casual stalker may be allowed to own 100 rounds of .243 whereas a gamekeeper may be permitted 500. Somewhat ironically you can hold unlimited quantities of reloading components so long as you don't make them into rounds. All rifles not in use must be stored in a cabinet conforming to regulations and ammunition must be stored in a separate safe or locked compartment within a safe. The current state of things is that no-one has to have training or undergo a hunter proficiency test but I see that coming with the continual drip, drip, drip of the bunny-huggers war of attrition on shooters. There is no ground swell of dislike for introduced pests in this country if the option is bloodshed. Regards from Scotland.

My opinion for what its worth. You need to review the brand of ammunition that you are using. In my experience, PPU is not all that consistent and does jam. Well here’s the thing. Here in Victoria AU there are hundreds of semi automatic centre fire rifles with large magazine capacity. Have been for 15+ years. No mass shootings from licensed shooters here. And yes the category D is not easy to get lots of hoops to jump. So what’s up WA?

really interesting. Way more complicated than here in Canada for PAL licence which most do not understand. But gov't can't catch the criminals so here trudo is going after the licensed law abiding citizens. Even if guns look "scary" to trudo they are evil.

Stick yourself biggish board up at 10 m . Pit an aiming mark on there take a shot.and itseasy then to hold rifle on aiming mark, and adjust scope so bullet impact is 50mm low of aimpoint, then your good to go on paper or board at a 100m dont my rifles this way for last 40+years

When the Chinese come, I’m sure they’ll be happy that semi autos are not allowed and every gun is registered.

If one is any good with a rifle there is no need for semi auto. When crocodile hunting was in full swing the weapon of choice and availability was the ubiquitous Lee Enfield 303 of World War 2 vintage. This bolt action rifle was responsible for just about wiping out the crocodile

Not being a know it all, learn how to bore sight a rifle, saves a lot of time and ammo. Amazing how accurate bore sighting can be. With a good rest 3 shots at 50m 1" high, 2 shots 100m 2", done(308 150grn)

Are semi automatic rifles illegal in Australia? Sounds like Australias fun laws are draconic and the gov must be scared to have the public with any kind of semi auto rifle
@jack_out_the_back

In Western Australia they are restricted to "commonwealth and state government use only" as the civilian population have no "genuine need" for semi automatic centerfire rifles.

@@jack_out_the_back So the state determines if you have a genuine need for a rifle. Interesting. Suprized the state doesnt control what kind of car you have a need for or the size of house you need. Thanks friend. Be safe From US.

I can't understand the stupidity of the new gun laws in WA, when the farmers require you to shoot long distances so your not doing more damage to crops etc, on large paddocks. your need a rifle that has the legs to get to the target animal.

Seems absolutely mad to me that one of the safest and law abiding countries in the world will not ease the firearm laws ,my god even us in northern ireland have better laws!! We can apply for a firearms certificate, you must be a good citizen of course for this to be granted and any breaking of the law or even a dui will be an instant revoke and guns are impounded by the police Once we get our fac we can own any number of rifles, shotguns or handguns provided reasonable purpose is given We were still in a state of semi civil war when you boys lost your rights as free men,but yet now we have better laws than you now Seems to me an australian nra would be a start Let me know your thoughts BTW,i am just breaking in a tikka upr in 6.5 creedmoor, would do the job on the camels ,

OMG, the older fella talking with you, having to spoon feed him specific terminology; is like pulling teeth. Esp. when he literally starts, & you offer the term, then he repeats everything word for word all over again. No offense, but it's extremely annoying. . .

I grew up in the 60s and 70s with both Skippy and Flipper the dolphin. 🦘🐬I still have my Skippy kids board game would you believe and found a DVD of the skippy series for my kids about 10 years ago! Government rifle laws and regulations... boy, is that the proverbial elephant/camel 🐘🐪in the room! The same restriction shambles exists over the ditch here in NZL, and I don't even shoot.
