I never have a problem coming across a.i at the start of a game that I can not take on I find it fun avoiding harder monsters and coming back hours later to lay the smack down . It makes the game more rewarding to me

Looks great to me. I disagree with your critique about pacing: finding a troll you can’t kill because you’re underleveled is not a bug, but rather it’s actually a nice feature for all of us piranha bytes fans

As someone who really enjoyed Elex, all I wanted was more story and content, not flash or gimmicks, but substance. Will defiantly be buying and playing this. Glad they stuck to what Piranha does best, good story writing.

So when you run into a enemy that can absolutely destroy you in early game, it is called bad game design, but when this happens in Souls games, every minute and a half, its called GOTY-10/10? A NPC told you to go kill a giant, and you thought, "yes this should be cake, i mean i have this stick to swing at it, what could go wrong, it's just a giant."

The lock on system is definitely an issue. I turned it to manual about an hour into playing elex and it was fine after. Can't wait to play this.

Great review guys. Thank you for your honest opinion. The videos on this game honestly are the biggest tell. This is a budget game that should be enjoyable at a $30 price mark.

This is Elex for you. Some (including myself) love it, some hate it. Pre-ordered.

I'm an older lady and I loved the first one. If u see a skull u know not to fight it or if u do chances are u are going to die. I used mainly a bow in the first one and once levelled up it was great.

I have a special place in my heart for janked up AA games. Sometimes a small budget and a small team of developers absolutely blows you away. The next time you chuckle and think "oh well..." And then move on. I've experienced both. I think maybe I'll wait on this one, it sounds like it needs a little more time in the oven.

I love soulsborne games, in fact the best combat system ever has Nioh 2. But for some reason I loved Elex a lot. Yes it was clunky but the world exploration felt so good, better than in any AC out there (I finished them all too). With that said yes it's rough around the edges but I'll love Elex 2. The release window is VERY bad for this game....only days after Horizon and the absolute masterpiece Elden Ring! Elden Ring will take half of the year for me....maybe 400-800hrs.

"Elex 2's disregard for pacing." Uh, player-choice in an open world always leads to pacing issues: Player-caused pacing issues are not "Poor game design", imo.

2:25 no respect for your time? To me this sounds awesome, a cocky npc was like "lets kills a bigass troll" as your first quest and got smacked so hard he died. This seems like a lesson for how the game works rather than just poor game design, and its also pretty surprising too, I would much prefer to have that experience rather than another quest when you just hunt a troll like literally any other game

Even though mechanically its a mess. The first Elex was fun because it didnt have all that open world BS that AAA titles seem to copy pasta into their games.

i like this game i got it about a month ago on PC. the world is beautiful. i would recommend getting the glasses on the island that lets you see all nearby treasure when you start the game. just start south and swim out to it

I dont even care if it's not AAA quality I absolutely LOVED Elex and am absolutely supporting Piranha Bites sequel..and hopefully we can get some DLC and maybe even a 3rd one..everyone clamors for "AAA big budget titles" and they forget that's what Activision, Blizzard & E.A. do...why support that when you can support an original IP of devs who make this out of love for their IP..not big profits from their player base

The game I've been looking forward to the most this year. I loved the 1st one. This was probably the worst review I've seen done in long time. Could of put more than 30 minutes into it to realize how great the narrative and characters are. When he said that, I knew he hadn't really played it.

I didn't expect much from this game and all i've seen so far was not very good but seeing how there is no footage from more than few hours into the game in this video (like when you talk about more advanced skills and weapons I expect to see some footage of that) I can only assume the reviewer didn't actually played throu this game past first few hours. I remember I really liked the lore of Elex but then it just...ends. So Elex 2 would be interesting to me, but I don't remember the lore from the first one now.

Oddly enough this game plays really great on my Amazon Fire tablet 10, I stream with Luna and use the Luna controller though the controller is not a top notch unit it works fine. I’m a big fan of SkyRim this seams to be in league with that game as far as mechanics go. The visuals are great, I can see creatures off in the far distance moving around… um yeah Billy Idle??? WTF

Piranha Bytes are developing a very special kind of game, you will love it or hate it. I love their games since the first Gothic, but even I have to say that they made some strange mistakes with Elex 2. My main problem with Elex 2 seems to be small, but for me it's huge, the new face of Jax. The game in general looks not as good as Elex 1, but the face of Jax is just a No-Go for me. Furthermore, at the present moment, the performance on PS5 is not acceptable and I hope that there will be a patch soon. Don't get me wrong, the game is definitely worth to play, but Piranha Bytes has to put more effort into the console version.

i mean it's Piranhabytes, by now we all pretty much already know what to expect from their modern RPG's. a game that's not the best in the graphical department, has clunky combat and generally feels like an older RPG, with weird facial animations, but usually has good writing and interesting worlds and story. in fact they remind me a lot of Bethesda's RPG's,

Is it just me or does elex 2 feels way easier then elex OG ? I remember dying a lot and having a difficult time even killing the weakest enemies the first hours into the first one. Surprisingly i don't feel that with this one...

If you are a Elex fan then everything that doesn't make sense, makes perfect sense....!!! This is,what defines the game . That what is unpredictable.....The graphics are fine .....There is much purpose in the story if you dig deep. So a lot what you said was very erroneous.....That was not a very good analysis of the game by gaming bolt..

The reviewer is complaining about ennemy level you may encounter, as long as remember, all PB games are designed like that, it's done on purpose in order to make people to think before accepting any quest and some quest are tricky which mean there are much easier way to finish the same quest

Imagine paying full price for this on PS5, getting an unplayable game framerate wise and then being unable to refund your purchase because you downloaded the game already lol. Yep, that's the Sony scam experience.

Terrible review. No mention of magic, tech powers, tech guns, or ballistic weapons? Barely a mention of factions. You seem to have based the review on a few hours playing with a pipe.

I don't think the reviewer understood the game. There is basically zero grind if you do the quests which will lead you all over the map eventually. Depending on your build you can freeroam from level 12. It is very easy to discern enemy difficulty. Hit it once if you only take a sliver of health from it go away and fight another day. The endgame quests are a too many waves of monsters to kill for my taste. Just because the combat is not very engaging. But by then you are powerful enough that it doesn't matter. I haven't found the troll hunter guy this early. But at least as a game reviewer you should know that that is not the fight to pick at level 1.

You don't just do what people tell you to do in ELEX.

must say, as a gothic fand since young age, Elex 1 already really dissapointed me. The combat was straight awful and it was way better in every gothic and risen game beforehand. Idk why they messed it up so badly, the had figured it out before.

I have a soft spot for Euro Jank AA RPGs, like the technomancer, mars war logs etc.... but I tried the first one so many times... but the combat is awful.... it has balancing issues etc i mean if you put the game on easy and still get one-shotted 2h into the game.... you know something wrong. Looks like nothing has really changed in Elex 2.... so prob give it a pass, which is a shame

This dude when talking bout difficulty basically explained elden ring. Elden ring reminded me of elex 1. Elden ring is obviously a crazy high end game but it plays exactly like elex of just throwing big ass enemies that one shot you everywhere.

I was hoping they would have dragged their clunky ass combat mechanics kicking and screaming into the 21st century. That's always been PB's biggest weakness, and really holds what could be great games back. I'll hold off on this until it's on sale, because even though PB's combat is abysmal, I do enjoy their games. Honestly, with how many amazing games are being released with innovative gameplay mechanics the last several years, PB better step up and evolve, or they are going to go extinct, and I don't want that to happen.

Why cant this company make a good sequel? the next time i like something they do I wont be asking for another bad sequel. It's like Risen 2 all over again.

Well PB games can't really get away with the same excuse of niche market appeal anymore coz Elex 1 didn't really fell like a PB game anyway compared to Gothic 1/2 or Risen 1. If Elex 2 is more of the same this is a big issue. People are praising the free Chronicles of Myrtana developed by volunteers so PB really need to get their act together and go back to their roots.

Which level 3 idiot decides to go hunting a Troll of all things... what the heck did they expect? Should have known right from the start that this was doomed to fail. I don't need the game to explicitely tell me I'm severely underleveled and about to die getting one-shoted. Common sense tells me that already. And anyone who ever played any PB game before knows that too. I love this game, albeit I think exploration is better in Elex 1. The world of Elex 1 is more vibrant and more diverse, but Elex 2 is a bit more fluid and responsive. Both games are not for the average common player. My greatest gripe in Elex 2 is not with combat, as I go for ranged and that's quite decent, but with structure (The late parts of the game are just a mob slaying drudge.) and story presentation (romances, emotion visuals and such) as well as the dullness of the world compared to Elex 1. Look at the coast of Tavar and the area around the old world heart in Tavar or just any ordinary grassy field and compare them between the two games. In Elex 2 the colors for average plants are green, yellow and white (and brown for tree trunks) and that's it. There is ONE type of flower in various bundles besides the special ones for harvesting. Now look at the vibrant colors in Elex 1. Even the desert in Elex 1 was more diverse than the areas in Elex 2. For a lot of areas, it looks like it could very well take place in the woods outside my town.

So this guy never played the Witcher 3? cuz in that game has "Skull" icon enemies that you can't damage because you're underleveled just like this troll in Elex it also has the same skull icon next to its health par. very bad review imo

Seems like your description of the unbalanced boss level system, sounds like my experience with elden ring. It got uninstalled quickly.
