There were some if you would pay attention to the parents conversation. One i think was when they were in the bedroom before the boy had his first treatment and another during his 2nd session while they were waiting for him and his mom was praying

The problem with the movie is the twist. A twist needs build up it can't just come out of nowhere. A twist needs a gradual build up, it can be subtle but there needs to be build up. This movie's twist just comes straight out of nowhere and you have to just go along with it. Another movie that had a similar problem was "Now You See Me" in which the twist just has so many flaws and there was no build up. You can call Eli's "allergies" a build up if you want but there not. There just there. Not to mention, when the twist happens, The mother's character changes *completely*. You can't do that in terms of storytelling. Character's change throughout stories, yes. But making one's entire personality different is just ridiculous. A plot twist doesn't make a movie good. A twist could actually ruin your movie or make it good. I made a special list of movies with that kind of thing. Please check them out, some of these are considered the greatest movies ever made. I hope you have fun with this list. It was a pretty good movie until about the last 20 minutes. It built the right tension, plot buildup, decent special effects, and good acting. The reveal near the end was not satisfying or interesting. This ending was horrible.

Each new season of Stranger Things adds more and more characters just for the sake of it without most of them having any meaningful development. Season 1 was the best season so far. Second and third are just flooded with characters you can't even relate with from the lack of screen time which just makes them filler for me.

I disagree, I don’t see a way that they could have made the movie good with that twist. It was well done but ultimately the ending was just too generic and lame. Rushed or not it was bound to be laughable.
