Coming up, a Colorado grand jury indicted three police officers and two paramedics in the death of Elijah McClain. In 2019, McClain was put in a chokehold by police, pinned to the ground and injected with a dose of the powerful sedative ketamine during police response to a call of a "sketchy" person at a convenience store in Aurora, a suburb of Denver.
Iris Halpern, the McClain family attorney, joins Tewolde on “Making the Case” to discuss the case in-depth.

@Kimberly, paramedics *always* carry ketamine because of drug overdose victims. The problem with the paramedics is that they, with their experience, took direction from the cops which is why the young man Elijah was *overdosed*.

OMG i suffer from paranoid schizophrenia and if you gave me medication on top of my pysch meds that probably would be a death sentence, How on earth can you give somebody meds without knowing what they are on or if they are on pysch meds thats ridiculous.

The paramedics, is a stretch…??? (Medical treatment is an up hill, beyond a reasonable doubt, battle.) It must be an election year for the A. G. to charge the paramedics.

They're Absolutely Wrong in this as well, paramedic was my first Job before moving on to become an RN, the paramedics should've used their on Judgement. THEY also should've radioed into the hospital & Spoke with the ER DOCTOR IN CHARGE before giving him 500mg of ketamine Elijah wasn't combative he was already subdued, those paramedics made the choice to inject Elijah with that fatal dose of Ketamine, after being put in a choke hold by police.

1 143lbs 5ft.6 Against 3 grown murderer's Choked out twice . Overdosed and not monitored. 1 year later the 3 killers went to the crime scene to pics mocking the chokehold with toothy grins. Don't forget that. Don't forgive that.

You can look into those officers' eyes and tell they shouldn't have that power. I wouldn't feel safe if people like that were walking behind me in the grocery store, police or not. Basic intuition.
