Unpopular opinion: MANSTRETTA definitely should have won the competition. The songwriting is so good and actually hits me in the feels. It sounds as if Ekcle and Koan Sound collaborated on a track. I was going to follow you on Soundcloud but realized I already do ha ha.

You should try making an EDM song that uses a weird time signature. I realize that a pivotal part of EDM is DANCE, and it's rough dancing to an odd time signature, but you could make a nice EDM WALTZ or something.

It is definitely a blessing and a curse to be the judge of any competition. The finalists all counting on your expertise, morals and good taste to choose a winner. That in itself is a crazy thing to ask of... which is why i hope to never be a judge. After seeing what Nate's sample choice was, i immediately thought, bro has a death wish...i could never. People are insane and insanely gifted.

Manstretta was def the best imo, with gaia being runner up. Manstretta's had the most musicality, and was the most creative with the sample.. i honestly thought most of these were quite bad. Too much "producing", not enough melody/harmonization/chord structure emphasized in these beats imo, but i pick musicality over sound design every day of the week.
