Finally got rid of that unnecessary power draw. The battery charger on the converter wasn't really working AND it was pulling a constant 70 to 80 watts!
Also, that time of year to spray the weeds that has been turning my gravel driveway into a lawn..

The moth is likely a Polyphemus moth (Antheraea polyphemus). It's a large North American moth with a wingspan of up to six inches. These moths are known for their eye-like spots on their hindwings, which are thought to startle predators. And I am sooooo proud of you for isolating and removing your battery charger circuit. Glad you took my advice! 😊

You did good girl. The second time you flipped the main breaker, my TV went black, a second or two later a commercial came on. 😂What timing. The power comes from the breaker, so the disconnected black wire has no power. You have your power draw fixed. Great Job!!!

Good job on sorting out that wiring! The humming you heard was the 120v to 12v transformer located underneath the wiring panel you were working in. (closer to the floor) It's probably for the better that transformer is no longer live as they had a tendency to become very hot and burn / scorch the floor underneath themselves. They suck power too as you found out.

That was the first thing I realized when I started my power saving energy independence journey. I disconnected my inverter charger, since my house batteries are connected to my solar charger. it was amazing how much power draw that thing used, even without being hooked up to the batteries. The inverter charger is designed to charge the house batteries and run the 12V side of your RV. I started converting all of my electronics to DC only as much as possible, and am happy that my only AC needs are down to 3 appliances. 1) Rooftop AC that I converted to work like a house A/C, so it only turns on when my digital thermostat reaches the designed temperature. It also helps with humidity keeps my RV at around 25% to 30%. My AC is left on 24/7. (I do go up and clean the entire unit 2 - 3 times are year) 2) My 2.5 gallon water heater, and works great with reduced water pressure. I can take 10-15 minute hot showers, with constant running water. (Which is a long time for me). 3) Microwave. 4) Coffee maker. I am still hooked up to the grid so I have a power bill, but I reduced my bill from $250 a month to just $30. I can run my water heater, microwave, and coffee maker from my Ecoflow river 2 pro or delta 2, but I don't have enough solar to regenerate that much power, unless I pull it from my dc to dc converter in my car which is an EV that has a 14kwh battery. To be honest it's not really worth the hassle because at only $30 a month (a tank of fuel in a small pickup truck) , I can live with that. I use the upside app for cash back on gas purchases, so for every fill up on gas the cash back eats down my $30 a month electric bill.

So my idea for an air conditioner was for a 24 volt unit like the Zero Breeze, which will dehumidify an exhaust it's heat through a hose to the outside. This runs on 24 volt batteries which can be charged with your panels. I have one of these for camping. There are two or three knockoffs also available now. Much more efficient than the dehumidifier, which is heating up your space.

YAAAAY!!!! We knew you could do it. Electricity is safe when everything is turned off and disconnected, but as an extra step ground out each terminal or wire momentarily before touching them. You'll not miss the sparks if there's power still there. Also in tight spaces use needle-nose pliers on the wire insulation rather than fingers to gain more working room. Hopefully your power problems are now all solved. That was a huge moth, and beautiful but things banging into the windows can be spooky. Where I was last set up I had a squirrel "alarm clock" as he trotted cross my roof every morning. I'm used to getting up early so no problem but I never quite got used to it. Things sound louder in a camper for sure! Enjoyed your fishing vid but forgot to comment. Once I fully retire I might take the sport up again. Stay cool Jenna 😎

Hey Jenna, you can go to harbor freight and get a device you plug in to a socket, then go to your panel and scan the breaker, it will beep when you get the right breaker. Then you can mark which breaker does what. I mentioned in a comment that normally all you need to do is flip off the breaker for the controller. At least, that is how my Jayco camper works, but mine is factory wired, yours by whomever owned it before you. In the future, you could try some rubber gloves and/or grab the wire with insulated pliers. There’s so many of us that want to help, but it is hard, not being there. Wish you had some other Nomadic friends close by, when you get in a pinch. Looking at the comments, looks like you were successful, give the cats a pet from me.

You know I’m a huge fan, always proper, you just tickle my funny bone with your mannerisms, lol. If the main power is off then you won't get a shock because there is no power to shock you, also you may need to remove the white cable that goes with the black one you removed because it is the neutral and can be energised, once removed there won't be any electric on either cable so you don't need to insulate the ends just move them out of the way of anything.

Great job 😂🎉 You might want to label that wire that goes to the 110V AC to 12V DC converter and crappy battery charger. Instead of putting on the marette you could insert it into the air conditioner breaker that way, if you ever want run your interior 12V lights from the converter with the generator running you could flip on the air conditioning breaker. Anyway on to the next job, chalk up another success!

RV tech here... The Constavolt Charges the batteries that run your 12 volt DC system... The actual Constavolt (Battery Charger) lives under the bottom of the panel you are playing with.. You can see the black and white wires going thru the rubber grommet hole and to the charger... If you pull the whole front plate off you will see the charger under there.. The only problem with not charging the batteries or / battery is that you will have NO 12 volt power to run lights, Thermostat, or brain for the fridge (if 3 way) which your looks like a 110 volt only.. Look at all those 12 volt fuses, nothing will work after your 12 volt batteries are drained... Also it is not good to run your batteries dead.. Give them a full charge again and then disconnect them if you are using 12 volt from the outside 110 source only.... (WHICH MEANS YOU WILL HAVE NO POWER AT ALL INSIDE THE CAMPER IF NO 110 VOLT POWER IS SUPPLIED).. Generally the batteries sit just behind the propane tanks on the front tongue... With the battery charger disconnected you will have no power to the 12 volt fuse panel.. Because, that is what powers it.(and your batteries connected) . You have to have something that converts the 110 (AC) power to 12 volt (DC) to run anything in the camper... Now having said all that, you can buy a fancy new constavolt power supply that will not take as much power use or "Hum"... I found a helpful video to explain this: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/o6p1mLZ517raYZ8.html Good Luck...

nice job on the electrical. its always good to be wary of electrical stuff. caution keeps u safe. they make a tool in the electrical isle at home depot where it looks like a usb stick w points on it that will beep and tell you if a line or outlet is live for like 15 or 20 bucks. have u converted your camper lights to led bulbs or led fixtures? that will save a ton of energy too. them older bulbs they used are horribly energy inefficient. they make led bulbs that fit old fixtures at walmart but there kinda pricey for just 2.

Beautiful Moth Fer sure! It's smart to be leary of electric because you can't see it coming to bite ya! Make it a habit to check any wire you grab with a tester to make sure it's not powered or back fed powered. Not telling ya what to do.....but......Get yer butt out there and set the hook on some bunkers would ya!...😂 God Bless...Stay Safe

You likely have disconnected more than the battery charger! Someone has marretted the battery charger and possibly another outlet together! Nice trouble shooting!

Someone must have put one of your outlets on the same breaker as the controller and I’m reasonably sure that isn’t normal, but you figured it out, congratulations.
