Robbie is a strength and conditioning coach to many PGA tour players, including Shane Lowry. He is also a superb golfer himself having won 2 Irish Amateur Championships. I’ve known Robbie for a while now and it was great to have him playing with real finesse around the greens.
In this lesson we worked on all The Three Releases and spoke about what it was like growing up playing with Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry, as well as insights into how you can be in the best shape to play great golf.
I hope you this episode!

Dan’s videos are perfectly in sync with his book. Just had a virtual session with Robbie cannon after this video and he is very knowledgeable and was able to figure out that I had limited thoracic spine rotation and right leg rotation. It’s amazing how well he was able to communicate and test things all virtually. Super Excited to start the gym and mobility programming and get some gains!!

I love watching Dan’s videos. Also, when you see someone that plays at the level of which Robbie does and gets himself checked out for swing flaws , solidifies my point to people I express to get a lesson or at the very least get seen for a tune up. I play with guys that can play well at times then get in some big ruts. I’m one of them ( I play to a 3 handicap) but I seek advice to straighten me out. It’s like buying a new club when you get a lesson/tune up , investing in your game isn’t just buying a clubs. Have a great summer peeps. Hit em straight ! And thanks for the videos Dan !!!

Wow, the strength and conditioning section is exactly what I’ve been concerned about as a new golfer age 45. From filming myself and comparing with pros I realised I wasn’t able to turn my shoulders 90+ degrees. Maybe not even 45. I am convinced that things like Pilates /stretching can help this and was encouraged to see golf specific workouts on KZfaq , yet still discouraged in not knowing how long it would take …. Months … years etc , and how much time/daily commitment From what he mentioned in the video he got results quite fast which is encouraging

@dangrievegolf - question. If you pay wider soled, cavity back wedges (like Cleveland CBX) versus the more bladed types (like TM hi toe), do you need to make any changes in the swing and set up for the wider soles?

Dan, I noticed Robbie doesn't grip down on any of his various shots. Are you a proponent of gripping down on chips and short pitches or is that an individual preference?
@21st_Century39
@21st_Century39 2 ай бұрын
Hi Dan, around the 6 minute mark in this video, Robbie asks if he should add a little wrist hinge in on the back swing? I always find that addition, adds more velocity to the strike, even though it's a short chip. The problem l personally have with this addition is the fact that l find l,m knocking the golf ball too far past the pin, thereby having a 7 foot putt, instead of a 2 or 3 foot one. I just don't feel l can get as much "feel" with the hinge added, as l can with quiet hands and shoulder turn. My own personal "feel" is in the arms and torso as regards trying to get that ball as close as possible to the pin. When l add hinge, l feel as if l,m losing any sense of where the ball is going to land on a short chip?
@russianxcoiladventures9477
@russianxcoiladventures9477 2 ай бұрын
Think his comment was more just for Robbie to help him from going inside and closed. As the correct hinge technique uses the pressure of the 3 fingers of the left hand right handed golfer. And when done correct will have the club head outside the hands.

I heard coaches say you need to extend your left side through the chip shot, but doesnt look like you advocate that? Personally Ive struggled with extension. Seem to be more successful by keeping the same knee flex through the shot? My extension is more after impact.
