Hi I’m Rick Shiels, welcome to my channel RickShielsPGAGolf. This KZfaq channel is designed to help you play better golf, also to help you enjoy your golf more!
I specialise in golf club reviews, golf club unboxing, golf club news, golf club head to heads, and all about golf clubs.
I also want to make you play better golf by providing coaching video on all topics about golf, how to fix your slice, fix your hook, help you drive the golf ball longer, hit your irons more pure, hit your irons closer to the hole and help you draw and fade your golf shots.
I will also help you lower your score by chipping better by stopping you duff and thin chips, pitch the ball closer and also create backspin. Also I will provide you help to putt better and hole more putts!
On this channel I also make fun and entertaining golf content based on crazy and sometimes “gimmicky” golf clubs. I like to cut through the marketing hype about products and I like to give you the honest truth about golf equipment.
If you enjoy the channel make sure you hit subscribe and also tap the notification bell so that you are always notified when I release a new video.

I’m a 7 handicap golfer, but could never improve my chipping, this is an absolute eye opener. Can’t believe how simple the corrections are; soft grip pressure, narrow stance, slow motion longer backswing and checkpoint on the follow through. UNBELIEVABLE!! Thank you so very much!

Probably helped you to focus on process too and not outcome. Focus on outcome creates fear and either yips or a tentative stroke. Confidence is everything, however that is achieved; new wedge, new putter, new method ... whatever. Keeping it going is the challenge! 🤣

@@manilove2pwn If you read Dan's book, the first release that they were practicing, the chip and run.. that's the one that he recommends for tight fairway lies. If you need help getting a more rotational swing and being less pully with the hands, I recommend either putting your feet together, or putting a towel under both arm pits. Since doing these drills, my swing has become more rotational, I’m not stalling at impact as much, and I’m able to put the club in the holster more easily. Then I came across Dan and it all started making sense. Him and Padraig have helped my short game the most. I noticed the other day that my chipping is at its best when I use the bounce correctly; I’m able to hit it a bit fat and my ball ends up where I want it to. Dan echoed all of this and really clarified things for me. He’s the man.

This is one of the best and most important lessons I’ve seen anywhere. Total game changer for me. I got so much out of this video I bought Dan’s book. Last weekend I had my lowest competitive round ever, winning first flight with a 75 net 70, and got up and down 6 times with 29 putts. The most up and downs and fewest putts I’ve ever had on my home course. Let’s just call Dan the “Wedge Whisperer.”

I’m the same way - the weirdest part is when my short game is good, I score the best. But there’s days when my driver and irons are on and my score will get ruined with bad play around the greens. I have Bobby jones on dvd from 1931 instructional video for all clubs, his most lofted club was a niblick basically a 9 iron, he could spin it on a dime or make it run out, in a bunker he could hit low and run or high and stop in the place it hit. They walked on the ball buried and he hit 9 to couple feet. Those days they chipped with several clubs. Some of this looks very similar to how bobby pitched in certain situations. In a match play the stymie rule was in and he chipped over another ball into the cup. Those days you couldn't lift clean and place a ball anywhere even on the green.

When I was a kid I was great at chipping and now have absolutely NO IDEA what I'm doing and have lost total confidence. In fact, my mind goes blank!! A mixture of fear and total embarrassment. For me, Andy Carter and Matt Fryer's videos on chipping have helped me tremendously. Those guys are really really good with the short game.

Rick this is one of your very best YT offerings to date, I have found my chipping game in much the same place as you started and being able to watch you rapidly progress to much better fundamentals under such expert tutelage was a treat and extremely helpful.. I cant wait to get back out and work on what I saw. Thanks from Oregon, USA

Mate, Ive played since age 7 was an Aust PGA for over 30yrs. Stopped playing for 7years in a job change & now back into it. Ive gotta say it was eerie hearing you talk about yr chipping bcos Im currently going thru just that.... thank you for yr honesty. I think as a good player its sometimes embarrassing to admit that we have no clue & when we can hit great drives & irons but dread the 40yd & closer shot it can really do ones head in. You are NOT alone believe me, so thankyou for that amazing lesson it was very refreshing & has given me something to work on with my short game. Great content, well done

Just coming back to this video after seeing Rick mention it in his latest video. This has been a game changer for my short game this year, overall game even. Probably the best KZfaq golf lesson, since this applies to everyone. Most golf lessons are contradictory or specific for a certain person or style, but this should be mandatory viewing for all golfers.

For me, this is Rick Shields's best-ever video to date because of the raw honesty, vulnerability and integrity paired with an incredibly good short-game instructor. As soon as he said 'putt chip' I was sold in terms of the analysis of the root cause and then the new pendulum chipping technique.

This might be the best KZfaq golf video of all time. Changed my short game forever. I was a driver of the ball to try and generate some spin with speed, and had no consistency. Now I’m hitting it high and soft and less worried about the ball spinning and making highlight shots.

Watched the video, bought the book, chipping has already transformed. Today I got the best compliment I’ve ever gotten from a stranger on the golf course. On hole two and after my second up and down for par. “Short game is your thing isn’t it?”

This is the third time I've watched this video all the way through since it's been uploaded. This might be one of the best (If not the best) lessons on KZfaq. I've implemented things from this lesson carefully a little bit at a time each time I go to my local range/putting green to practice my short game. I have closed my groupings to the pin from various distances away by about 3-4 feet and I am much MUCH more consistent from different lies. I broke 85 for the first time and I owe it to this video and most of all your channel Rick! Mr. Grieves you are a legend!!
