If only the gameplay was like the trailer and the ships maneuvers were even 1/8 as how it was shown

to everyone complaining about the trailer being unrepresentative of the actual game...so what, almost every major game is just as guilty of that! and as for the quick backwards turn the cobra does, that is possible, maybe not as fast, but you can turn back and keep going in one direction, and quite quickly if you know how: flight assist off, flip your ship up, spin, have good engines

1. This game will come to consoles 2. Not a Star Citizen copy or competitor (quite the opposite) 3. It will not be on Steam 4. Other features are planned to come later 5. It's just a game, no one is forcing anyone to buy it. You don't like it, play some other game.

Almost 5 incredible years! I wonder, what developers preparing for the fifth anniversary. Elite's birthday is December 16.

So misleading - still love the game - but geezus, I wish we could warp like that in a system, and fly that fast in combat. ::sigh::

As someone who looked forward to this greatly, I'll say this: In its current form it's a solid framework. Just don't think that climbing around on a bunch of steel beams is going to be as fun as the amusement park they say they're gonna build inside. Some things DESPERATELY need COMPLETE REWORKING. Namely the market, which is atrocious to say the least. Helping to give players some abatement from that sense of loneliness if they so choose would be nice as well.

I've been playing Elite Dangerous off and on since September of 2014 (when it was still in beta). I enjoy the game (despite its near-vertical learning curve), but this is the first time I've ever seen the trailer. If I'd bought the game based on this trailer, I would have asked for my money back. WHAT were they THINKING?!

Why everyone complaining bout the trailer? It maybe shows a bit too much action but at last it only shows key features of the game. This is what the 80ies Elite represented in a modern way...and from this POV it's more that great.

4 years later no space legs.

I find it kind of funny that people don't actually realize the ambition behind this game. Yes, I know that even halfway through Season 2 there's not really much gameplay, but I say that your expectations, people, are quite unrealistic. Also, this is not your action-crammed AAA-game like Call of Duty or something, so please get over it, and stop expecting it to be. Trying to cram every single idea that was talked about into the actual release (scientifically-accurate atmospheric flights, first-person hunting on Earth-Like worlds, EVA activity are just some off the top of my head) is quite literally impossible, and Frontier knew that. This is exactly why Star Citizen is having so much trouble now - they're just overwhelmed with the amount of stuff they have to cram into their release game. And I say that it is a good thing that ED is progressing at the rate it does now (still wish it was a bit faster, though), because that way they actually HAVE time to polish every little aspect of the game and then release them, one by one. Otherwise, such development would take SO LONG, it would put Half-Life 3 to shame. That said, considering Season 3 would most likely be the walking around and station interiors, first 20 seconds of this video might as well be copy-pasted to Season 3 trailer, when that comes :D

'Not actual game footage' was shown briefly at the beginning and then they basically show an entire trailer that consists of everything you won't be able to do in Elite:Dangerous. For those interested in actually walking up to your ships and pulling those crazy Top Gun maneuvers I would recommend checking out Star Citizen instead.

This game trailer is 100% prerendered bullshit, good way to make me never want to even give the game a chance. Also, pretty sure just a few weeks ago this game was like 20% complete? I would hate to see the mangled frankenstein they are calling a finished product when they are to scared to even put gameplay footage in the launch trailer.

To those people who want this to remain PC exclusive, let me ask you something. Do you want people to not experience this? Yes, I'm a PC gamer, but mostly because I don't feel like putting up with the politics of the consoles. I think the concept of exclusivity needs to die, because it arbitrarily limits what examples of the art that is video games that people get to enjoy. Now, if this does go cross-platform, I hope it's done properly, because honestly a bad port of the modern adaptation of the first real space sim would be crippling not just to it, but the genre as a whole.

Haven't played this game, but the concept of a huge open galaxy would be awesome to apply to a Star Wars game! Imagine playing as a smuggler or bounty hunter during the time of the Galactic Empire, barley escaping the Empire in epic space battles, being hired by the Empire to hunt down rebel targets, maybe helping the Rebels fight against the Empire directly or indirectly, and of course being able to complete the Kessel run in less then 12 parsecs! You would be able to have your own ship and customize it, be able to walk around in it and have friends join you on it, and visit your favorite planets you know from the movies. A game like that would be amazing!

I wish a Cobra could really fly like that.

Awesome trailer. ED will really hit mainstream once they finnish/release the ability to exit ships. I know its *all* planned. Zero G, FPS, planet/station, etc exploration. However.... Just the initial ability to get up from your seat, and even walk around your ship, or to a vendor / contact in a station. Will increase the immersion of the experience 100%. And then more and more in time.

It only took them 7 years to add the stuff from the launch trailer to the totally "finished" game

60 bucks for the game, 50 bucks for the expansion pack, 8 bucks for voice control, 15 bucks for Astra, 15 bucks for personal responses, 15 bucks per other AI character, and 5 bucks per paint job. But it's worth it.
