Rough grading a new construction yard. I was on this site earlier last year digging the frost footing. We are finally back to touch up the rough grade and get ready to spread the dirt for seed and straw. They did away with the walkout and added some windows which is really going to make the grading interesting lol! Dad is helping move some pallets and carry dirt around to the front of the house. The whole is really nice packing clay but it's almost to finish grade height so a lot will need cut down. Thanks for watching! #EliteEarthworks #Takeuchi #RoughGrade

So here is what is so great about this video, I absolutely love when you spend the first moments explaining your strategy based off what you are seeing. It is amazing how you determine your plan by looking at the ground, and your can plan out your moves. Then what I get excited about is looking when you execute and understand exactly what you are doing and why! It makes your videos for me that much more fascinating. When I ride by construction sites and I see excavators working or skid steers moving, and now can understand to a certain degree what they are doing! Rewatched and Loved the video!

Im sure the entire planning was a challenge from the start. You get a thumbs up for making lemonade out of lemons. I think the entire house should have been built at least two or more feet up out of the ground. The way it sits they will always fight to keep water away from the foundations. Any kind of lawn will be a headache to maintain too. Its not all bad though, the house and scenery looks beautiful!

I remember this job. They did not put much (if any,,, I can say it, you shouldn’t, haha) thought into the grading!! The brick on the front is already in the dirt and for the homeowner to get what they wanted, you would have to bury some of the veneer!! Big waste of $$$, but also that veneer won’t stand up to being buried, permanently moist and experiencing a freeze thaw cycle. It will probably disintegrate. I suspect the pipe by the lowest window is for a window well??? I don’t quite know how things are done there vs here,, as we know!!! Hahaha. It’s a very good looking home!! I LIKE/LOVE retaining walls and could see some awesome opportunities to go with, like a 12’x24’ ish recessed patio at the front! Soo many great opportunities. It’s better than putting plants up against a wall to mask it. As usual,,,, I like what you have done here. Hopefully you mentioned some of your ideas for retaining walls and they will get you back later to do some of the work the way it should have been done first,,,,, with some amazing retaining walls!! Haha. Great video Brandon!!!
@eliteearthworksllc
@eliteearthworksllc 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah I agree not much thought at all lol! It definitely has potential, you’re right a few nice looking walls and a patio area would be great! Maybe one day but for now they are doing the bare minimum to finish it up. It’s tough for me to do a job knowing it’s not quite right but that’s how it goes sometimes. Appreciate you watching

It would most be worth the money to pull that air conditioner pad out and build it up… but, that’s obviously not in the cards! I see now what you were showing me yesterday. It was every bit as much digging and filling as you said. Packing across that slope west of the propane tank was like driving in a box of marbles. The rocks just rolled you down slope, all the way. I was wondering if the 2150 would fit under the carport. It did. But, you didn’t have a lot of headroom over the boom. Dirt Daddy just posted a video where he found almost 4’ of top soil! I told him I would do my best to come up with a Star Trek Transporter so we could solve the problem of Dirt Inequality. If I figure it out, I’ll let you know! I enjoyed the visit yesterday. That job is a real head scratcher! Good luck finding some magical drainage answer on the Diamond job today!

You have the patience of Job! I couldn't imagine how you would straighten it out, but you did and I watched you and still don't know how you did it! My son said the house looked like it came in for a landing and just plowed into the ground, LOL. The one pad over by the propane tank ought to be built up with thick brick or pavers or something - it's just too low.

This job was trying that’s for sure. It was aggravating knowing it all needed cut down to make the grade right but the homeowner was not going to pay for that. You are an artist buddy! Hey, just throwing this out there, I bought a couple Midland radios, put them in our tractors and a couple handhelds. They are AMAZING! between the tractors, we get about 10 MILES! The handhelds about 7-8. You do have to apply for a fed license, but takes about 10 mins and is like $70. We use them when baling hay etc. Thought now that you and your dad are working more together in machines they might come in handy. I think I got 1 big one and 2 handhelds for like $200. Just a thought.

I just dealt with one just like this...the homeowner spent 10 on decorative brick to cover the foundation and we ended up covering 1/2 of it to get water to go away from the house..rule of thumb for builders take the current elevation and add 18” to it..

Yeah, that's a disaster when your house sits below rough grade... good luck with that one, maybe just talk the owner into a basement sump. lol It sure would help if the owner would let you slide the forks under the HVAC pad and raise it to a manageable elevation and lower the LP tank pad. Do you bid jobs like this or T&M, it'd be tuff to guesstimate a peach like this one. Nice work!
