I was just at SVA yesterday to have my bow tuned. Good people. I currently use slick trick viper tricks which are the most accurate I have ever used, but exploring other options for 125 grain heads as well. Since Josh mentioned the Ashby report what does he think about heavy arrows (600+ grain) vs effective range. In short does he think their is a maximum arrow weight for a 50 -60 yard max effective range..... now we get to the android vs apple debate lol.... I understand why people use apple if you struggle with new technology it makes sense to use 10 year old tech i.e. apple. Lol 😂😂🤣🤣 obviously I am joking however I do have a suggestion for you on camera autofocus. During the video it was hunting a lot if possible shoot at a higher f stop such as f11, might need more light in the room but more will be in focus and it "should" stop hunting or you can turn auto focus off after it is set. Just a thought to make the camera behave thanks for the great videos keep up the good work. Also, thank you for informing me about SVA.

Awesome info. The rabbit hole of broadheads is always a fun one. Switched back to fixed blades this year with the annihilator. Loving hownit flys. Rock solid head and easy to sharpen. I was using the sevr prior to that. I think spin testing could have been on there as well. Although more in the arrow tuning side, it can make a drastic change in broadhead flight.

Thanks for the great info. So the only pass through consistently I have had are the fixed. Magnus Stinger my favorite and the G5 Montec. I only had one pass though on a mechanical but that was because the only one blade opened. The rest of the mechanicals would stop at the other ribs they were all with in 12yds. This year I am trying the Cutthroat single bevel.

@@bruceyoung8036 Thanks. I've never used expandables. Always used Montecs 125 gr. I have Easton 5mm Axis, 340 spine. Would like to have switched to a 260 or 300, but it's what I have. I did put a 25 gr. Iron Will outserts on and a 150 gr field tip which shot consistent and accurate. That brings my arrow weight to 500 gr even. So I bought a pack of Magnus Stinger Killer Bees (150 gr). Haven't had a chance to shoot them yet, but I will this week. I do know my Montecs are still flying well with the outserts. So no matter what, I will add at least 25 gr no issues.

Hand torque is probably the most overlooked reason for poor accuracy or flyers. Its super easy to eliminate. When you draw your bow simply look up the string at your top cam/wheel and you can instantly see if you are torquing it left or right. After a while of doing this you will remember how you grip the bow and your groups will start to shrink. Hope this helps

Tyler - obviously everyone knows I use the GRB Hades Micro 3 Blade - they're super affordable, however the higher end ones are attractive. Cry once buy once type of thing. If you're looking into ones that you can resharpen on your own, maybe check out annihilator broadheads, they're out of Idaho!

I’ve been practicing with a 200 grain Cutthroat single bevel two blade. Flies great, very tough head. What are your thoughts on single bevels or two blades in general? Also, any big advantage to running more weight in the shaft with a lighter head vs a standard insert and heavier head? My feeling is that the heavier broadheads will hold together and be tougher than a lighter head.

Those single bevels represent the very best design in broadheads. The wound channel is absolutely devastating. Price is the only drawback. As for weight, the more upfront the better. Your arrows will fly better in windy conditions and substantially improve momentum.

Man I can’t help but to want to take out the work of getting points and heads to hit the same spot. Not that mine don’t they do and I tinker until they do. But I’ve had bows that didn’t play well with others and wouldn’t get the heads and points in the same spot. And at that moment the smarter one out this family, my wife, was like hey you can’t hunt with field points! So being on a budget and not wanting to buy another dozen arrows I moved my sight just a tiny bit and boom...broad-heads were hitting where I aimed. I’m all for the “tune” and a lot of bows make it easy but for the guys that don’t have the time or money DON’T sweat it! Like sighting a rifle match bullets for target and long range steel, hunting bullets for critters, I don’t change barrels until they hit the same spot....I move my sight. Point is if you are struggling and your tips and heads are outside of say a fist size difference 2”-3” just move your sight. Most sights now days are super easy to adjust and are very repeatable. I agree with everything in the video, but also this.

@@landenshippentower691 Keep it simple young man. Shoot a heavy arrow, use a scary sharp broadhead, and resist the temptation to extend your range, 30 yds is plenty far in the woods and leaves less time for your prey to react to the sound of the shot. Other than that, when it comes to tactics, listen to experienced BOWHUNTERS. And, maybe most importantly, enjoy the experience. Success can be measured in many ways. It's not all about making a kill. Tough lesson I know, but once you learn this you'll never come home unhappy from a hunt. Good luck!!

I’m not fully understanding the logic here. You shoot the bow with field points and it goes through paper as a bullet hole, and we say it’s in tune. But, then you throw a broadhead on with the same weight on the front end and now if it doesn’t group with the field points the bow is somehow out of tune (can lean, torque, or whatever)? That doesn’t make sense. What does make sense is that you shouldn’t expect the two to hit the same spot because aerodynamically a broadhead and a field point are not the same.
