What strikes me looking at this video now is the amount of pain in Ellen's eyes during the interview. I'm so happy for her and all she's been able to accomplish being herself.

41 complete jerks disliked this video. Ellen helped change the world for the better in ways now so obvious... To say the least. She helped me, a straight man, helped my sister a beautiful incredible woman who reminds me of her in many ways with her wit & love of & for fellow human beings based on what's in their hearts & how they truly love another not who. Love is love & just thank you Ellen for your strength & courage literally paving the way to the way we are today where my 14 year old son looks at gay/straight no differently than if you have blonde or brown or red hair. Now THAT'S beyond words awesome. Hollyweird could use more Ellens. At least now shes as high on the success ladder as is possible to get in every way because of who she is and what shes done. Thank you Ellen! 💗

For goodness sake what’s wrong with people. It is said that it’s the older generation that is against homosexuality, well I am 80 years old and I say good on you Ellen there is nothing wrong in being gay. I would let my children watch the programme. People don’t be so narrow minded. From England

Despite everything now after the COVID-19 situation and what’s going on I’ve always loved Ellen and I felt good watching her show. I think Hollywood did her wrong hugely twice and while there was stuff going on at her show with a toxic work environment, I don’t expect her to be the one who was able to fix everything. As a viewer I always felt happy watching it and that’s what I strive for. Diane Sawyer does her job but you can see the emotion and Ellen’s face here and I still think she is brave and all of my gay friends definitely need this kind of thing in their life. Rephrasing that, her show was for everybody - gay or straight alike and I will always look up to her.

Sawyer and the 2 abc reporters appear to be, to say the least, uneasy with Ellen's revelation ... indeed maybe even disgusted(?) They should really have been a great deal less opinionated in both their words and facial expressions. Personally, I'm not interested in archaic, judgemental views then or now! Most of the troubles in the world are due to people being judgemental and intolerant of others. As for religious beliefs, isn't there only one who can judge? 🤔🤷🏻‍♀️ What I have seen, since the days of this 'revelation', is a kindhearted lady go on to make so very many people's dreams and needs become reality. A lady who has become a worldwide name & star. 🙂👍🏻

She was brave to do what no other stars had done at that time with as much to lose as she did. There has always been gays & lesbians in Hollywood, hidden at any cost-just like the military, football teams, etc. Being gay or lesbian doesn't make a person automatically a pedophile- the Catholic straight priests are living proof of that. It's no one's business what people do in the privacy of their bedroom or home as long as they're two consenting adults. Let's try a role reversal. When is the last time you have EVER seen a straight person grilled about being heterosexual on Prime Time TV? been asked WHY are they straight, when did they first know they were straight, why do they choose to wear dresses if they're a straight women, why they choose to wear men's suits if they're a man, why do they feel they have to tell everyone they're straight when it's "so upsetting to people", how dare the heterosexuals have kids & let them be around that, it's so ridiculous! I am as straight as can be. I like men, been married to a jerk, had kids & still like men. One of my cousins is bigoted against gays as well as other races. She simply cannot understand a gay man or woman. She said, "How can a man want to be with another man?" I told her, "How does the idea of being with a woman appeal to you?" "Never! I couldn't stand it!" "Well, there you go! Gay men have the same disgust for a women as far as a relationship goes just like we do!" Not that I feel it's wrong AT all if that's what gay men or women want, we are ALL entitled to live our lives as WE see fit- not make OTHERS live their lives as we see fit. No one grills straight couples on what they do in the bedroom, how they feel it will affect their kids, etc. Being a homosexual is not a contagious disease, I think Ellen mentioned that. I've been around a lot of gay men, didn't know at first, fell in love only to find out LATER & get broken hearted. But at least they didn't have sex with me, marry me & carry on a secret life behind my back, which happens a LOT. At least, they respected me enough to not let it get that far. Now I call that a real gentleman vs. a straight man who cheats on me. I have a lesbian cousin. We didn't know in our childhood & we eventually lived in different states. When she came to a family reunion a few decades ago when she was still around 20 something, she brought a "friend" with her. I REALLY wish I hadn't missed that reunion later, but I was working at HFD 911 Central Command & couldn't get off. My cousin, lol, was outspoken just like most of the women in my family are. We always had a LONG dinner table full of aunts, uncles, grand parents, cousins, grand kids, etc. After everyone had eaten & was just casually sitting around drinking coffee (or liquor), eating dessert, gossiping like old hens & roosters, she stood up & asked for everyone's attention. "I'm gay & this is my girlfriend Susan (?). Thanks for listening!" & sat back down like nothing. I'm laughing my ass off now, I really wish I could have seen some of those faces! Overall, none of us felt one way or the other about it, it didn't affect our personal lives as straight people. God bless my grandma, she stood up & said, "Welcome to the family! You 2 come by & see me any time you want!" & went around & gave them both a hug. The conversation started up again & everything went back to normal. I sure do miss my grandma- she was more of a mom to me than my real mom. Thanks for reading! YT, please don't delete this! I am copying & pasting it for safe keeping & double-checking!
