Considering there is barely any Jack interviews online im amazed this only has 4.3k views. This is amazing. Mintz does an amazing job a lot of interviewers should take note. He asks a question then he listens and lets Jack speak.....

That's really how to interview someone. Not something you really see anymore. Make them comfortable, hear them out, make it an enjoyable conversation for them. Don't be weird or silly. You noticed in this interview he was comfortable enough to talk about things that were a little touchy to him and we got some good answers. Great interviewer.

I was absolutely riveted by this one. One of Nicholson's most candid long-form interviews. Once again, I felt like I was just hanging out with a movie legend who truly was authentic. Bravo, Elliot.

Mr. Mintz, any elaboration or description of the details of this encounter and interview would be much appreciated...by many, many I’m sure. I know people who’ve had encounters of varying degrees with Nicholson between the 1980s and the the late 2000s. Never a bad word have I heard uttered. A friend encountered him on the boardwalk at the Jersey Shore. It was while in line to buy gelatos. He not only took pictures, but foot-the-bill for my friend and his companion’s gelatos. I’d be curious to hear your first hand description of your experience. Many thanks for the upload of this terrific interview!

hi michael. i did a few interviews with jack. feel free to visit my free website to listen to the others: www.elliotmintz.com with respect, to this one. it was conducted at his home in beverly hills. he has lived there for decades. i remember arriving late afternoon..... ahead of him to find a quiet place to set up the tape recorder. jack got delayed........and i knew he had an event to attend in the evening. i did not want to take up to much of his time. but he was more than generous in terms of doing the interview. we spoke in his living room. it did not feel rushed. he took the time for us to take a poloroid picture as he was putting on his tie. on other occasions, he was kind enough to drive to the radio stations where i worked as well as 'calling in' from canada for an interview when he was shooting 'the last detail'. we have spent some 'social time' together as well. jack is among the two or three most brilliant people i have known in my life. he is acerbic, witty, informed and perceptive. in recent years he has chosen to stay out of the spotlight. i respect his privacy choices......and miss talking with him.

@@elliotmintzvideos Thanks for the reply. I’ve heard from other people who’ve interviewed him as well and they unanimously describe him as incredibly generous and intelligent. He’s always been my favorite actor. I will definitely check out your other interviews. Thanks again!

What an inspiration. I would give up a lot to do a scene with Jack Nicholson... I just don't know which scene... The Departed and Last Detail come to mind as well as Anger Management and Five Easy Pieces, but can you imagine doing live theater with this dude? In which case give me Orphans, or anything Sam Shepard, or maybe a henchman with Jack's Joker. One of my all-time favs...

From the standpoint of a listener, the big difference between Jack Nicholson and Marlon Brando is that the former is down to earth and personable in comparison to the latter, who was pompous and a royal pain in the ass.
