What is it about this line that is just so 🤌🏻 [muahh] _delicious!_ hmmm? I mean, when some of his drug imagery gets a little too close to home, I get it, and understand my visceral response to them. But this, it just... grabs me. I dunno why. But I love it.

Listen to "kings crossing" by elliott. There are so many more amazing songs but that ones really great. Independence day and son of sam are good examples of his playing style also, for a new listener to get a good feel of the texture of his music..

when I first bought either/or, I would sort of cringe at some of his chord/melody changes, but the songs would be in my head all day until I'd listen again.. after a few days it became one of my favorite albums ever.. it was as if I had to attune to him.. and this album came next.. and this song is my favorite from this album.

@@Frusherful thing is you're partly wrong here , If you watch the interview with Elliott where he shows how he writes songs it is literally through feeling. He doesn't look at his guitar and just plays, he describes seeing music and chord changes as shapes rather than knowing exactly what chord he's playing. Elliott wrote 100 percent through feel. Like everyone else, the only difference is that he is literally a genius.
@theneveristsofficial1732
@theneveristsofficial1732 Жыл бұрын
@@Frusherful I don't think you understood my point, either that you're being obstinate, while Elliott was an extremely competent musician, he wrote with feel, you can literally go and watch the video for yourself, he doesn't think about how to construct a great chord sequence etc, he just does it. that's what you're missing, yes I'm sure if he stepped back he could have told you technically what he was doing but that's not how he created music.he created it impulsively.

And it could have been in the soundtrack, the responsible for the soundtrack, was Jon Brion, a great artist, producer, musician, that had a friendship with Elliott Smith, before they split up the friendship, when Elliott Smith pushed away people that where trying to help him saying to him that he should quit using drugs and alcohol, and sadly Elliott came to an end in 2003, and I don't know if he die still mad with Jon, but if they continue they're friendship, he could had used some songs for Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, like his songs were used for Good Will Hunting...

@Eyrascal

His effectiveness of telling stories and painting pictures through music is extraordinary. The song he’s referencing not only makes perfect sense here, but defines it. That being said, even without knowing it, Elliott makes it easy to immerse yourself in the scene. Knowing the reference adds another layer to the story. Imaginative, simple..gorgeous detail. “Oh my darling, Clementine. You are lost and gome forever, please come back my Clementine. Dreadful sorry Clementine” 😭💔

No,there was actually a huge amount of understanding(and probably a lot of thought!..)..TO ME HE IS the chord progression MASTER,but even he'd stated he played more with feel and I've heard this from countless others.DEFINITELY A COMBINATION OF THINGS.I mean he was tapping into something artistically I'VE NEVER REALLY seen or heard musically ,minus maybe a few exceptions.
