Thinking of Elliot and Alex Chilton together makes for a sad connection. Poor Alex died of a heart attack and he didn’t even have health insurance. Sometimes people will all the talent in the world never make it big. As for Elliot... I just can’t, even after all this time I just can’t put into words how heartbreaking it is for him to have left us so early.
@shimmeringfairydust32752 жыл бұрын
And Chris Bell left us even earlier - he was only 27 when his car skidded, crashed and killed him. I think he was buried the next day, which was Alex Chilton’s birthday! As much as I love Bell’s beautiful, aching singing on “Thirteen,” I always thought this was a better fit for Elliott. His quiet, whispery vocals and complete vulnerability make this a perfect piece for him.

PinkDevilFish+ This is the key! I've started playing pretty much daily the last few years (sometimes just going over the same go-to scales and songs I've played for ~12 years), and have been blown away at the amount of progress in my overall dexterity and muscle memory. I threw some basic Travis Picking exercises into my regular practice routine a year or so ago, and now feel like I can play just about ANY picking pattern I come across. My fingers just kinda figure it out haha. I just recently learned "Everything Reminds Me of Her" and "Somebody That I Used To Know" in about 2-3 days. Even just a little bit of consistent practice goes a long way!

That does likely have to do with the fact that Elliott's singing voice was heavily influenced by Alex Chilton's.
