This is what happens when you give Elton John a Oven Manual. I take no credit I just wanted to share with every one else.

The thing is. Richard knows of Elton's brilliance. Richard is doing an experiment of which he already knows the outcome. He also understands that not many people actually know how brilliant Elton really is - but he is going to make sure they do before the show is over.
Elton wrote most of the songs on "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" in about 20 minutes and those are actual hits. Being normal people, it's hard to fathom that kind of skill, but hey that's why he's a big deal!

And apparently the whole process was completely professional: he and Bernie Taupin would have breakfast, then he'd come into Elton's office, drop a stack of lyrics on his piano like incoming mail, and Elton would go through them one by one and add music to each. The two of them a REALLY good at what they do!
