Elton John's "The Million Dollar Piano" is a residency at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. I knew this was going to be my wedding song when I first heard it when I was around 8 years old. When I got married it was my wedding song in 1990. Now that, I left him in 2012 for personal reasons...and we both went our separate ways for several years, we have come back into each other's lives and are best friends. He now has Stage 3 Advanced Lung Cancer and is fighting for his life. This song has ALWAYS made me cry, happy and now sad tears. Please pray for him because I can't imagine my life without him! This will ALWAYS be our song!

This amazing song reminds me of love and my first boyfriend? It holds a special place in my heart and I got to see Sir Elton John soon after I first heard it. He was like magic to my ears! His incredible voice and piano playing became a life long memory to me! At 71 I still get so nostalgic hearing this enduring, beautiful song and I will always respect his talent and years of enjoying his music! What a gem he is to the music industry! SE Hinton was 15 in Oklahoma in the 1960s when she wrote the novel The Outsiders (Hamlet) and 19 when she wrote That Was Then, This Is Now (King Lear). She used her initials because of the belief her audience would be prejudiced if it was known she was not a guy. I believe she married the special guy who got her out of her writer's block at 19 by insisting she write a page a day. She became a nurse.

Saw him live once where he laid on the floor, on his back, with his head on the piano pedals and played a song in that position...remarkable talent in so many ways. My sister saw him at Atlanta airport and sat and chatted with him for a while, like he had all the time in the world. When he went to leave, he asked "do you want me to sign anything?"....what a gentleman.

I'm always so impressed with how Elton uses inverted chords with his left hand when he plays. I remember reading somewhere where his fingers were so short that it was difficult for him to reach some chords played the conventional way, so he simply inverted the chord. Same notes, but just in a different sequence where the tonic is no longer the bass note. Regardless of his playing style, he is magnificent - a true genius.

Approaching my 70’s now, this has been my favourite song from the first time I heard it. I don't have much money but boy if I did . That verse takes me back to Elton's early years more the any other . Elton talking about living with his parents in their North London flat . I can't help but notice the best recording artists in my life time have never forgot where they came from . Nothing given to them . Nothing handed to them . The stories that inspired a certain recording are a treasure to hear .This is something that is fast fading away . I feel that is why so many of us go back to this golden era . Thank you Elton and Bernie .
