Idc if the Jackets lost, this was absolutely incredible to witness live. Even got to see Ovi break his scoring drought. Absolutely worth the price of admission, plus the atmosphere was incredible. GG Caps fans, Lindgren was incredible as well.

A full two-minute power play in overtime is likely to decide the game. Based on that, I don't have a problem with the penalty being just a minor. I think Merzlikins' response was a carryover from being run over earlier in the game.

As a goalie I gotta just say you can't be doing stuff like this. Regardless. He's lucky he didn't get tossed for using the blocker. Cost your team incredibly heavily by going down 4v3 in overtime. Temper can't overpower the main goal of winning a hockey game.

One of the most irritating things in hockey is when defencemen push opposing players into their own goalies/own nets. It's so stupid and so harmful to your own team, yet it happens pretty much in every game at least once. I don't get it. There's no upside. Just play the stick or push them AWAY from the goal, rather than right into it.

He was tying up Wilson in case there was a rebound. As you note, that pushed him over Merzlikens who was pissed about something that happened earlier in the game. Tome Wilson living rent free in the head of Elvis Merzlikens.

its not like oposing players are by any means trying to avoid it eather, oposing players take those pushes as green light to disrupt or knock over goalie 4 a chance that maybe someone can score in the chaos before vistle blows, ur not wrong, but oposing players being more interested in falling into the net to disrupt goalies than not also contributes to why this happens so often.

Oh good Lord, I just pray Tom Wilson is OK. That had to be a very traumatic experience for him. It's almost like Tom Wilson is the forever innocent guy who just gets pulled into scrums, because his team are a bunch of inbred assholes. I will also guarantee Wilson didn't say anything derogatory towards the goalie. He's just not like that. I spoke to his mother recently, after a few sessions of extracurricular activities, and she told me Tom was raised to be honest and respectful both on the ice AND in the bedroom.....or kitchen, or hallway, or whatever. She also told me that whenever her pride and joy scores, he dedicates his celly to his mom, his sister, his aunt, and his eldest female cousin. I guess it's a pole thing among them.

Should be suspended. Hit him with the blocker tried to keep him pinned in the net to protect himself from getting a beat down. Lucky it’s a professional hockey game. Outside that or any arena that’s assault with a deadly weapon along with a few other charges the cops will put on paper to try and get a guy to plea.
