This song always makes me cry, seriously. One because we've all had a girl we would have loved to have back that we did something to make her leave and just wanted to tell her every word in this song. But also, Because we know where Elvis was in his life when he recorded it. You can feel the emotion in his voice. That's the truly saddest part. He genuinely loved Priscilla and Lisa, and outside of his mother Priscilla was probably the only other woman he genuinely loved, no matter how many others there were.

THANKS! This reminds me of one of my biggest mistakes of the mid-70s. I had a complimentary ticket to his road concert, but I bailed out. Elvis was no longer "cool", but an overweight "Las Vegas" caricature so his road concerts were no longer selling out. A few years later, I was sitting in my car in a shopping mall parking lot listening to the radio when it was announced that Elvis had died. I thought about the concert that I bailed on and cursed myself for missing it.

Actually, now after listening to this, I believe this is the partially overdubbed orchestral version, therefore I was wrong in my initial post 5 months ago. The fully overdubbed version has yet to be done. Forgive me for the error. I know better than this. I guess I was so excited to hear this I forgot. Should you want the fully orchestral version to see what you can do with it, please let me know. It was available on the 1985 CD release with the same title. It is a very common CD to find on ebay and not expensive. There were several versions of this song released with different mixes of the orchestra and without throughout the years. Again, please forgive me for my slip up.

Great ballad in great stereo and a really nice picture of Elvis with his family. Lisa Marie born in 1968 would be about 4. No Jordanaires but Glen D Hardin used to be in the Crickets on piano and vocal and Jo-El Sonier is a classy Cajun singer/songwriter and does top Cajun records(have one or two), and the Stamps are a professional long standing gospel quartet. Pleasing all your Elvis fans Pat! Thanks for this one.

Not a great Elvis fan but I think this is his best. As usual a great quality remix - I too wait for the daily, or every other day, upload from Radio Wollaton.

This is the overdubbed orchestral version. It was also released without the orchestral overdubs. Ernst Jorgensen, the man in charge of all of his post Sun recordings wasn't a fan of the orchrstral version and iirc he did not include it on the 70's box 5cd set. The orchestral version happens to be my favorite version. The orchestral version released in the 80's on a cd with the same title and very sparsely since. I believe it was the version without the orchestral overdubs that was originally released in the US.

The late Elvis is not my favourite, but this recording sounds fantastic on headphones, especially the background choir!

Just a suggestion pat, the glitter bands Angel face, the double drumming would be incredible !
