Elvis LOVED his fans! I mean LOVED his fans! He always knew and stated many times that without them, he'd be driving a truck. That was his job when he made his first record in 1954. He drove a delivery truck for Crown Electric company in Memphis and was training to be an electrician. As he said in his 1969 August engagement at the International Hotel in Vegas "I was training to be an electrician...and I got wired the wrong way!" Elvis came from a childhood (into his teenage years) in EXTREME poverty. He never forgot that. Never forgot where he came from. He also knew and said throughout his life that it could literally all be gone in the blink of an eye. He never took his fame for granted. He was actually uncomfortable with fame. But because of his upbringing and knowing what it's like to literally have nothing, that's why he was so generous. Buying cars (especially Cadillacs) for people who couldn't afford them. He bought houses, cars, hourses....anything he thought that person might want. So many times, he'd pay cash for the gifts and use a fictitious name so the recipient had no idea it was from him. He also had a love of Children and animals. Twice a year....at Christmas and again at Easter, Elvis would cut a check to St. Jude Childeren's research hospital in Memphis. The amount would usually be $5,000.00. He started doing that in the early/mid 60's and continued it until the end of his life. So yeah.....humble. Never forgot how he started dirt poor, and always shared what he had with total strangers
@jimcowan87704 жыл бұрын

@ronaldholmes50093 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't go that far saying that Colonel Tom Parker murdered Elvis . Elvis killed himself with all those damn drugs. His manager didn't help matters any near the end, but let's be honest about it...Elvis died of drug abuse , as so many have before and since then. People never seem to learn. Also, Elvis let his manager have far too much power and control over him. Elvis was the star and really the boss, and he could have put the colonel in his place at any time. Elvis didn't need Tom Parker ...It was Tom Parker that needed HIM! Elvis was SO famous, it wouldn't have mattered much who managed him. A chimp could've managed Elvis and nobody would have noticed the difference. People came out to see Elvis and bought his records by the millions because he was such a FANTASTIC performer. Does anyone really believe that without colonel Tom Parker , Elvis' career would have nose-dived and fallen apart? PLEEEZE!!! Elvis was already a legend in his 20s and that legend has never died, and never will!

He could go from a voice like velvet to raw rock n roll, and he mde it seem so effortless. I would have loved to have seen him live.

There is a clip with audio from one of those limo rides and it looks like this one,and he starts talking about the girl he was with the night before. How "she could raise the dead" lol
