This was the last time he performed this song live. They say right afterwards they found him in a fetal position crying. The red scarf represented for all those that died in Vietnam. Then he sang this in memory of MLK and Bobbie Kennedy. He song from the heart.

"If I Can Dream" , written by Walter Earl Brown most notable for its direct quotations of Martin Luther King Jr.'s 1963 "I Have a Dream" speech. The song was published by Elvis Presley's music publishing company Gladys Music, Inc. It was recorded by Presley in June 1968, just two months after King's assassination. The recording was first released to the public as the finale of Presley's '68 Comeback Special. Brown was asked to write a song to replace "I'll Be Home for Christmas" as the grand finale on NBC's "Elvis", 1968 . Knowing about Presley’s fondness for Martin Luther King Jr., and about his devastation related to his then-recent assassination, he wrote "If I Can Dream" with Presley in mind.

I absolutely love watching all of you younger girls react to Elvis soooo much fun cause you all start with ok let's see and end up loving this beautiful man. I've been a fan all my life as my Mom was a huge fan in the 50s. My family moved to Vegas in the late 60's and my Mom worked at the International where Elvis performed and anytime she could she would stand in the back of the showroom and watch him perform, she also brought home albums cause when Elvis showed up they would bring in crates of album's of all sorts and let the employees pick what they wanted out of them. Keep up the good work and the love...♡
