@@stephanietip it's true! Many of the words are directly MLK's words. RFK played on King's dream theme when he said he mentions George Bernard Shaw's quote and he flips it. I love that RFK meme, " I dream things that never were, and think why not." He died shortly after that!

Elvis worried he would be forgotten when he died. I hope wherever he is, he knows that all these decades later he is still the King and he can still touch people’s souls with his voice. And now, thanks to the new movie, another generation is getting introduced to this incredible incredible man and his music.

@@bwana-ma-coo-bah425 you talk out of ignorance. Every year the man wrote hundreds of $1,000 checks for various charities and didn't want it out in the public. The man found out about a black lady in Memphis who had no legs and got around by handles on top of skates. Elvis went out and bought her the most expensive electric wheel chair one could by at that time. Doing a show in Texas, Texas did not want Elvis to bring his black back up singing girls. Elvis said if they don't come then I don't come. And had them driven out special in front of the audience. One of his cooks at Graceland was a sweet black lady named Mary. Not only did Elvis pay her a great salary, he also bought her a house as a gift. These are only a very small of the ACTION this man did. What have you done?

Elvis had a philosophy that each and every performance he gave should be as if he is debuting a song for the first time. He wanted his audience to walk away feeling like it was the first show they attended every time he performed. When he was on stage nothing else mattered but the fans. He truly performed for the love of his fans. He didn't feel his contributions as a singer were enough. He loved this country and he loved his fans. Maybe someday you'll get to meet him if witness protection will ever let him emerge from hiding. He truly is the king.

I wasn't even part of this world when he passed away, but he, posthumously, helped to shape my music taste from a very young age. I'm 41 now and I still find myself listening to his music. If that doesn't speak to people about what an extraordinary talent Elvis Presley is/was, then I honestly don't know. People will still be discussing his music when I'm long gone.

I absolutely love your heartfelt reaction to this song by Elvis. It's so gratifying to see other people effected as much as I was. I discovered this video back in 2008, while singing as a regular at karaoke, and I was so moved, I learned it, as accurately in his delivery as possible. It was a workout - not only singing-wise, but emotionally - it brings up feelings that both added power to my voice, and other parts would suck the wind right out of me, and I would start sobbing - and have to stop, take a break, and try again. When I finally felt ready, after working this song for a week or more, I sung it at open-mic night, and was so energized by it, I nailed it, full voice, all my feeling came thru full force. I don't do Elvis impersonations or anyone else, but when I find someone's performance of a song that just absolutely sends me - I just have to emulate them as closely as possible; I want to sound like THAT... Elvis did the same thing, with opera singers especially, later in his life. He met a guy named Roy Hamilton, and I kid you not - Elvis spent the remaining years working up that crazy-good vibrato... emulating Hamilton's style very, very closely. Here's the link to Roy Hamilton's song that caught my attention, so much that I edited my own video of Hamilton, leading to my discovering these two met and became friends; kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mcqXntyLmcfRg2w.html Elvis knew what worked, and was an incredible student of singing. I think he was the greatest self-taught singer of all. So I took his example, and sang that song, breath for breath, exactly like him, and for the first time, I had people coming up to me smiling thru tears, crying, thanking me. In that moment, I finally understood what it felt like to be a conduit, part of something so big, that I had just been picked up by, carried for a bit, and put gently back down again, on the ground. This is a very special song.

He always left it all on the field. Perhaps the first & one of the few times he bucked Col Tom Parker, his predatory Manager. The Col wanted him to close out the show w a Christmas song. This was my Mom’s fav Elvis song, followed by In The Ghetto and then Walk a Mile In My Shoes. A GREAT ONE TO REACT TO: Elvis & The Black Community: That Echo Will Never Die Really enjoyed this reaction; Thank You!❤️💙

My fave song from his. This rendition is amazing. Although there are many. I have known Elvis the name and some of his songs all my life (I´m 37) but had not really listened to him until recently. He deserves the legnd category for sure. He seems like a nice human being and he is absolutely captivating to watch. Reminds me of Whitney and the likes in that regard.

I agree, I was born in the early 70’s with his movies, but his later songs show the power of his voice. He was supposedly kind, generous and also bullied for growing up on the “wrong side of the tracks,” which probably gave him his great talents, acceptance, and kindness. Thank you for sharing this with the younger generation and showing appreciation for Elvis. I think he wanted to be known for his music much more than just a heartthrob.

As a Elvis Lover for over 50 yrs IMHO this is the greatest performance of any artist of all time You can feel every word to the core of your body if this doesn't make a person feel what the words and his vocals as well as you can see his emotions as well and if you know the history behind the song I think you will agree .Ps Love ❤️ your reaction ty for sharing and one other thing this song is still so very relevant in these times

"If I Can Dream" was written by Walter Earl Brown with Presley in mind for the grand finale on NBC's "Elvis", known as Elvis' ‘68 Comeback Special (June 20-23). After Presley heard the demo, he proclaimed "I'm never going to sing another song I don't believe in. I'm never going to make another movie I don't believe in." In his nine years remaining, he kept his promise. Being the grand finale of the 1968 Elvis special is why Elvis says "Thank you, good night." (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/If_I_Can_Dream)

This was from his 1968 comeback special . I'm lucky enough to have witnessed this performance live. I believe it was aired on NBC. Watched it as a kid and it was the talk the next day at school, kind if like watching a Heavyweight world title fight. The man had the looks, Charisma and talent!

Through his music, Elvis had a way to bring people together. Elvis was born in Tupelo, and spent most of his life living in Memphis. He had both life and music influences from almost every American culture, which made him a fantastic person and artist. Elvis was one of the few who did not forget where they came from. We could use a few more people like him today. Welcome to the rest of the world of music. We're glad you're here!
