It’s crazy to think this was considered to be super “edgy” back in the day. The concept of convicts being the main focus/protagonists and Elvis’s moves were met with controversy. But it didn’t matter, because the song was a big success, staying at number 1 on the US Billboard for seven straight weeks! Elvis was INSANELY ahead of his time, and changed popular culture forever! His influence still lives on even in 2023 :D

Elvis Presley - Jailhouse Rock Lyrics: [Verse 1] The warden threw a party in the county jail The prison band was there and they began to wail The band was jumping and the joint began to swing You should've heard those knocked out jailbirds sing [Chorus] Let's rock, everybody, let's rock Everybody in the whole cell block Was dancing to the Jailhouse Rock [Verse 2] Spider Murphy played the tenor saxophone Little Joe was blowing on the slide trombone The drummer boy from Illinois went crash, boom, bang The whole rhythm section was the Purple Gang [Chorus] Let's rock, everybody, let's rock Everybody in the whole cell block Was dancing to the Jailhouse Rock [Verse 3] Number forty-seven said to number three "You're the cutest jailbird I ever did see I sure would be delighted with your company Come on and do the Jailhouse Rock with me" [Chorus] Let's rock, everybody, let's rock Everybody in the whole cell block Was dancing to the Jailhouse Rock [Verse 4] The sad sack was a sitting on a block of stone Way over in the corner weeping all alone The warden said, "Hey, buddy, don't you be no square If you can't find a partner use a wooden chair" [Chorus] Let's rock, everybody, let's rock Everybody in the whole cell block Was dancing to the Jailhouse Rock [Verse 5] Shifty Henry said to Bugs, "For Heaven's sake No one's looking, now's our chance to make a break" Bugsy turned to Shifty and he said, "Nix nix I want to stick around a while and get my kicks." [Chorus] Let's rock, everybody, let's rock Everybody in the whole cell block Was dancing to the Jailhouse Rock

I played this song really loud at 100 on the sound dail at a huge ghetto block party. All the people on the street party went crazy and started dancing. The ghetto dudes started screaming the words to the song but not knowing who the singer was because the don't listen to rock but only rap music. When the song was over they asked me who it was and i told them it was Elvis Presley. They were shocked beyond belief and they wanted me to play the song again but even louder than before. At the end of the song they couldn't stop talking about how good elvis really was and they all wanted to hear only elvis and no more rap music at the block party. I will never forget that day for the rest of my life.

Everybody in the whole cell block was dancin' to the Jailhouse Rock. Number forty-seven said to number three: "You're the cutest jailbird I ever did see. I sure would be delighted with your company, come on and do the Jailhouse Rock with me." Let's rock, everybody, let's rock. Everybody in the whole cell block was dancin' to the Jailhouse Rock. The sad sack was a sittin' on a block of stone way over in the corner weepin' all alone. The warden said, "Hey, buddy, don't you be no square. If you can't find a partner use a wooden chair." Let's rock, everybody, let's rock. Everybody in the whole cell block was dancin' to the Jailhouse Rock. Shifty Henry said to Bugs, "For Heaven's sake, no one's lookin', now's our chance to make a break." Bugsy turned to Shifty and he said, "Nix nix, I wanna stick around a while and get my kicks." Let's rock, everybody, let's rock. Everybody in the whole cell block was dancin' to the Jailhouse Rock.

@@miguelosvaldofloresdomingu8911 Johnny B. Goode is one of the most important and great guitar songs. But this song is better. A two-chord rock song by Elvis which paved the way for a harder sound in rock music. Given this one came out in 1957, the crunch of the riff is pure hard rock - Motley Crue knew this and used to play a rendition of the song in their sets. The intro may only be six seconds long but the two chord strum and snare drum kick is still one of the most memorable moments in music. Elvis' voice is also great.

You know what's one of the saddest things that I think about every now and then? I'll never get to see Elvis perform live. I sometimes cry thinking about the legacy he left behind and how I can't live that experience within the music industry. I like music today just fine and dandy but no artist has ever struck a cord within me that made me a crazed party animal like I do when I hear this man's voice. He's got the kind of charisma that very few are born with that you just can't help but listen to him.

(I'm not even from Europe too) Also I didn't expect this comment to blow up like this xD At the time I wasn't really thinking of all the negatives, I just thought of the fashion, music and stuff . But yeah taking into account the racism and sexism I don't think I'd want to live in 1950 America.

CyantheOffical ARIANA GRANDE!? SHAWN MENDAS!? Are you for real? Who the actual fuck thinks they’re better than Elvis Presley!? Elvis is the best selling solo musician, and whether you like it or not, Elvis will have more influence on the music industry, and culture than any living artist today. His accolades include having a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and having other rewards in hall of fames like the Rock and Roll, Blues, Country, Rockabilly, and Gospel just to name a couple (there are a total of 24 Hall of Fames he’s featured in). He also holds the records for the most RIAA certified Gold and Platinum albums. Rolling Stone listed him at number 3 in the Top 100 Singers ever. I also guess you’ve never heard the song Suspicious Minds, which truly shows the talent of Elvis and is much better than any bullshit Mars, Mendas, and Grande has, and will ever put out. Also, you’re probably 12 years old, as you know absolutely nothing about music and its industry
