This man had a 23 year career and sang every type of music you can name. He won 3 Grammy's for his gospel alone. He was the whole package, Beautiful, talented and very generous. he was civil rights advocate and culture changer. Watch his tribute to Martin Luther King, from the 1968 special called " If I Can Dream". He was the first and the best.

During Elvis 4 week stay at the Las Vegas Hilton hotel , he broke every attendance record. That’s because he was the best of anyone in the whole darn world. From 1969-77 Elvis performed 837 consecutive sold out performances in Las Vegas alone. That’s 2.5 million people.

He was born in Tueplo, Mississippi and then his parents moved to Memphis, Tennessee when Elvis was about 12 or 13. They moved him because of his great interest in music and Tennessee is the capital music of the world!!! Well, he was popular in Vegas for both reasons. Vegas along with Madison Square Garden in New York is considered the biggest stage in the world. And Elvis played both.He was the BIGGEST attraction the city had ever known. They came from ALL over the world to see him!!! He set attendance records there playing to the largest crowds in history and everywhere else he played in the '70's. He sold out every show thru the '70's. How about more Elvis? In October 28, 1956 doing Hound Dog on the Ed Sullivan Show. In '73 at the Aloha From Hawaii Concert doing You Gave Me A Mountain. See how they reacted to him at these jaw dropping performances!!! The world had never seen quiet a phenomenon like Elvis!!!!

Well I read Vernon left at night owing money to various folk in Tupelo, and was getting no where in his various jobs to support his family. Memphis was fairly close in the great scheme of things and he had more chance in finding rewarding work. At aged 13 Elvis showed no inkling he would be a stand out musician and according to Elvis Vernon actually said something along the lines, I've never known a guitar picker make a good living.

When Elvis opened at the International Hotel in Las Vegas, later the Las Vegas Hilton and now The Westgate. It was the largest showroom in Vegas and of its kind anywhere. Elvis smashed all Las Vegas Attendance Records and when he returned the following two years he smashed his own Las Vegas Attendance records. Playing 2 shows a night, 7 days a week for 30 days at a time Vegas had never seen such an attraction with people coming from all over the world. It was the beginning of big vegas concert shows and Elvis would along with national touring return to Vegas yearly from 1969 to 1976, he was scheduled to return in 1977 but of course passed away.

Thanks for mentioning the bass playing because nobody hardly ever does. And he is a phenomenal bass player just like everybody in that band is incredible. And I love Ronnie Tutt on the drums. But at any rate, another one that you will probably get a lot of recommendations for is Suspicious Minds from this exact same show, and it is an iconic performance if you really want to hear that bass player going nuts. And there is more singing in it. That's your song. Absolutely phenomenal. You saw his singing ability on American Trilogy but you should also check out Bridge Over Troubled Water from this same 1970 Vegas show. It's really wonderful.

I subscribed more Elvis please a great one also is live Las Vegas 1970 Bridge over Troubled Waters, What now my love & all of the 68 Comeback special & yes he was the first to have a Las Vegas residency starting in 1968 -thru 1976 he played 2 shows a night 7 days a week for 6 weeks twice a year he was the highest paid performer in Vegas at that time he sold out every performance & received a gold belt from the International Hotel Casino for perfect record on sold out performances when he opened in 1969 every star from Hollywood & singers came to see him he put Las Vegas on the map before him their were no big star performers there! He also sang Gospel music that will take you to church he won 3 Grammys for his Gospel! He sang all genre of music & still holds the record for most albums sold! In 1973 he was the first to do a live Satellite Charity Show from Hawaii called the Aloha Hawaii Special was seen by over 1.5 billion homes! He grew up dirt poor & never forgot his roots he was the most gorgeous, charismatic, charitable generous, humble man he loved his fans & gave to people he didn’t even know! He was & still is the GOAT!

Elvis did have a residency in Vegas for 7 years, at the International Hotel (later the Hilton and now the Westgate). Every February and July/August he would play four straight weeks, 7 days a week, two shows a night (an 8pm dinner show and a 12am midnight show - and on the last night he would do a 3am show for fellow entertainers who couldn't make the previous shows). Pretty brutal schedule, he often didn't even know what day it was. Polk Salad Annie isn't really a vocal performance kind of song, so hopefully no one gives you crap about not mentioning his voice. For that you'd have to watch something like his 1970 performance of 'Bridge Over Troubled Water', his 1973 performance of 'What Now My Love' (or almost anything from his Aloha From Hawaii show), 1968's 'Tryin' To Get To You', or 1972's 'How Great Thou Art'. There are really so many that showcase his voice, those are just a few.

Two you should definitely react to are Suspicious minds same concert 1970 live in Vegas and Trying to get to you 1968 Comeback Special. Forget the haters. They only know rumors and false stories. This man was the ultimate in his time and loved 46 years beyond his death. He shook up the world. Vicki

There’s Elvis and then everyone else. No one will ever compare to the king. Ever. Listen to bridge over troubled waters. He’s from Tupelo Mississippi. Because Elvis was Vegas. He sold out every show 6 weeks a year, two shows a night. He was the highest paid entertainer in Vegas history at $1 million a week. Streisand at the time was the second highest at $50,000 week.

Elvis changed the face of Vegas. Before he started performing there mist of the performers were older ones who's careers weren't as big as they once were. Elvis was the first mega superstar to play Vegas while at the height of his career. As Sammy Davis, Jr said in an interview, the minute Elvis' name went up on the marquis or people heard he was performing there people would fly in from all over the world to see him. Sammy saud he'd never seen anything like it in Vegas before. In years after that it became the norm to see big name current stars perform in Vegas.

If you can find me someone else in the world that can do that, I`ll pay more or less whatever it takes to see... I`m just about old enough to remember `68 - `70, and remember him being as famous as everybody else alive in the world put together. This is not necessarily a good thing. RIP Elvis, not least amongst us and certaily not the greatest who has walked amongst us. I`m English, and the song `Jerusalem` comes to my mind.

I second that Elvis'band is top notch! But to say that you appreciate Elvis in this more for his entertaing the audience/directing the band? ( Wich he did very good!) But it is like doing Elvis'injustice to forget his vocal qualities here. Just listen to the intro where he is introducing the story, and also the singing. No-one could do this better than Elvis. ( Although I like the original by Tony Joe White too) The song did fit Elvis to a T. And for an idea of who Elvis was? Check out the recent Austin Butler movie directed by Baz Luhrman. Of course Austin pales in comparison , but he did allright!

Did you react to Suspicious Minds Vagus 1970. If not you have to react to it. Elvis helped pay for the International Hotel where his shows were.ill love you more if you play more Elvis. I grew up listening to Elvis since 1956 n yes im old now but Elvis music keeps me young. I only got to one concert Aloha concert 1973 n sat 3rd row center n couldn't take my eyes off of him. I never met Elvis but became friends with Charlie Hodge his confidant and best friend for years after Elvis died n he told me many great stories about Elvis, I even kept a journal on the stories. Some other songs that many people liked " Bridge Over Troubled Water Vagus 1970", American Trilogy Aloha concert 1973, Make The World Go Away Vagus 1970. You Gave Me A Mountain Aloha concert 1973, I'll tell u more later. Ronnie Tutt was his drummer ( recently died) James Burton guitar, n Glenn Hardin his pianist ( I met Glenn several years after Elvis died. n we became good friends) I could write you a book lol. Also Elvis gave most of his millions away to friends, family n people he didn't even know. Hey bought people Cadillacs, Motorcycles, Jewelry, Trips, Houses, paid their medical bills etc , Helped pay for the Pearl Harber memorial, While in his car he saw a homeless man n he made his driver stop n he gave the man $5000 to get a new start in his life, His home at Graceland, Memphis is now a museum with everything he owned, awards, gold records, all his cars, Motorcycles. I better stop before you get bored I love your reaction. Keep the videos coming. Thank you for keeping Elvis music alive

Just Pretend live 70 for vocals if that's what you're looking for..or Bridge Over Troubled Water or You've Lost That Loving Feeling live in 70. I could go on and on but I won't

James Burton was his base player guys. Anything from 68 special and also the 73 Aloha from Hawaii. What Now My Love, My Way, and You Gave Me A Mountain all from the 73 Aloha special are must reactions.

lol The misinformation in e comment sections is astounding! Someone already pointed out who's who but the way people present stuff as facts sometimes is crazy.

I always thought it was poke salad.....the poke weed is an edible green when it is young. As it matures it becomes poisonous. I can only seem to identify it when it is poisonous....it starts to turn reddish in the stalk.

I guess you like the band. James Burton plays the hell out of this one with Elvis. Song starts at 0:36. James taking off at 2:20 kzfaq.info/get/bejne/l9l-Y8x9tqnHe40.html

It's actually called poke salet. It's a plant that grows in the south that some parts are poisonous. You have to know which part of the plant to eat. Listen to the original Tony Joe White Version. As much as I love Elvis Tony Joe's version is better

From personal experience Elvis fans on KZfaq are the most hateful group I've ever encountered. Good luck with them. I would recommend the studio version of In The Ghetto or the 68 comeback version of If I Can Dream to show his vocal talent or anything from Aloha from Hawaii.

Hey.. not hateful.. we just love Elvis so much and we don’t like others critisizing him.. if u truly knew about him u would know he was a wonderful warm generous man … I don’t think there are any other fans that are more loyal than Elvis fans… God bless Elvis ❤️❤️
