Elvis made people feel as though they knew him. He was totally unique, never choreographing, all was done on feel and instinct. This can not be learned, what he had was so special. When he died, it was like time stopped. He was a household name, a part of life for so many people. Difficult to understand for young people today, but Elvis changed everything. He incited excitement and emotion just by BEING. Humble to the core, never hurting anyone but himself.

It doesn't matter how many times I watch this performance it always feels like seeing it for the first time. I never get tired of watching Elvis concerts. His rehearsals are the same as watching a concert for me. He is relaxed....funny... unfiltered... and a perfectionist ....

"Hut 2 3 4" is marching cadence in the military -- he was joking around referring to his days in the Army; he always joked a lot; btw, Elvis did care very much -- the things he did on stage were due to his confidence about what he was doing therefore he could do certain things, say certain things, move in certain way; but he did care & his image was very important to him -- it was his confidence in his music & what he knew he was able to do that allowed him to mess around on stage. Thx for your reaction.

Elvis was incredible. No one will ever come close. Just FYI. Elvis was reading a note that a fan gave him, not reading the words of the song. He always had time for his fans. Elvis is the ONLY ARTIST INDUCTED INTO SO MANY MUSICAL HALL OF FAMES: ROCK, COUNTRY, GOSPEL, POP, CHRISTIAN, R & B, ROCKABILLY, AND HONKY TONK HALL OF FAMES. Elvis was nominated for 41 Grammys. According to the R.I.A.A., the governing body that certifies Gold, Platinum, and Multi-Platinum Record Sales, (Recording Industry Association of America) the Leading all time Artist in Record Sales is ELVIS PRESLEY. -Elvis is the leading sales artist for both Solo Artist or Group. -Elvis has sold over 2.5 Billion Records Worldwide. ( A Billion is 1 Thousand Million). -Elvis has been on the charts more times than any other artist or group. -Elvis has the most hits in the Top 100, the Top 40, The Top 10, and has had 32 Number 1 Records. Elvis had the respect of both Men and Women. Elvis was very very generous with his money, and actually gave more than half of what he earned to charities and buying things for others (some strangers and some friends). Truly a wonderful human being.

Elvis had amazing charisma. And he really was an instinctive musical genius. He evoked the proper emotion; knowing when to be playful and when to convey profundity. He was deeply involved in the musical arrangement, coordinating the transitions of the instruments and the backup singers. His performances could make you smile, laugh, dance or even cry.

Elvis knew exactly what he was doing. He also didn't make mistakes. And if you watch again, his body moves in tempo with the music, especially the drummer. It happens in all his songs. Never take your eyes off him, or you will miss something. Also don't stop the video early.

Elvis' dance moves were cues to the band. They watched him intently while on stage and were very much in sync. You should watch a couple of his rehearsals to get a taste. He was as laid back in rehearsal as he was on stage and interacted with his audiences whenever he could. He truly loved is fans and often stated that they were what made him. His moves weren't the only thing that made him famous. His vocal range is amazing. I would recommend Heart of Rome, What now My Love and If Tomorrow Never Comes to experience his amazing talent. Loved the video and your insights, you have sub here. Cheers!

His "perfect imperfections" in his performances, where he's clowning around, doing spontaneous off-the-cuff humor, doing self-effacing jokes, etc., is only one of the reasons why he had such "perfect charisma" and the aura of magnetism both onstage and off stage!

loving your in-depth reactions, you take time and trouble and actually speak your mind, good work, thank you! Elvis was the most photographed and most famous man on the planet by this time. From 1956 he only got more popular and recognized worldwide. About 3 years after this performance in 1973 Elvis did a worldwide satellite broadcast concert to over 1.5 BILLION people, it's never been done before or since. It's actually difficult to imagine how adored and huge he was in this era now, it almost seemed like he was something from another planet. I remember it well here in the U.K as a kid, America to all of us was Coke-a-Cola, Micky Mouse, and Elvis. But with all that mega fame he always remained down to earth, and humble, he never forgot the utter poverty he came from, he showed great respect and kindness to everyone he met, and willingly gave his time to them, ESPECIALLY the poor and underprivileged, and he loved his fans. Once when asked "doesn't it bother you your fans ripping the shirt off your back?" Elvis replied... "My fans want my shirt, They can have my shirt, They put it on my back"...that says everything about how his mind worked and how he felt about his fans. It seems most of the time he put others first, probably part of his undoing, But that's just another reason he is still loved around the world, it's not just his amazing charisma and entertaining powers.

In your reaction were trying to describe what you find captivating about Elvis. Bruce Springsteen said this about Elvis: "An artist like Elvis is, rather than pretending when he goes out on the stage, he's actually pretending when he's home to be normal. And when he goes out on stage at night, that's who he actually is."

Well this reaction is very difficult to comment on. I was blown away. I'm going to turn 60 here soon and I remember he died when I was in 4th grade and I kind of liked some of his early stuff and I saw him on TV is a very young kid doing that Aloha from Hawaii show that they broadcast on satellite but we saw it on network television here in the United states. You know and it wasn't till I was in my twenties and really going into my thirties that I started playing in rockabilly bands and really truly exploring that particular older music and then I loved it but only the older stuff not the later stuff. Well now I've played in bands for so many years and arrange things and keep in mind Elvis wasn't a ranger, he arranged everything in those songs. He was a mastermind at it. But anyway the reason why it's difficult to comment is because you're reaction started off with like four or five things I wanted to dress afterward to complement you on, but then it turned into 15 and I just got overwhelmed and I'm like there's no way I can respond all that other than just to say, wow you are so articulate and observant and you're doing this with music that is literally a half century before your time. I'm intentionally running this into one long paragraph just to get at people and you as well maybe, but I will tell you you are super hot and I assume you're probably in your twenties? I don't know the older I get it's hard to say. So we have to acknowledge that but mostly, it's great how much you just pay such close attention and you have this great depth of field if you will, in your thinking about it and the way that you articulated and I was really impressed I mean I am really impressed right now. I hope I get to see you do more elvis.

I've never seen you react before and I'm about 11 minutes through a 21 minute reaction but I just have to respond right now before I forget, everybody likes to say that he forgot the lyrics because he did that or I don't think he did honestly he just made it a point of humor in his 1968 Comeback Special about 2 years before this when he's dressed in black leather on the amounts of old school hit he had with heartbreak hotel. But in this snow by now it's like vegas, and people are giving him notes all the time and there's another set of footage on here where someone a woman gives him a painting she made of him and at first he's kind of funny and he goes it looks like Engelbert humperdinck, which was a really super soft gentle singer at the time for example my mom loved him. But then he laughs and he takes it any autographs and he goes don't worry you'll get it back later. He's doing that with the snow. He just chose that moment in the middle of this narrative to pull out her note and read it and then hand it off to his guitar player so that he can go backstage and sign it later and they will find a way to get it back to her. He was so involved with his fans but you have to understand, a lot of that funny stuff and his body movements have to do with interacting with his band as well. He did all the arrangements he led the rehearsals he is a band leader basically and a communicates a lot of the conducting not with his hands but with his body and his facial expressions. He had the best bands all the time, they were Top Notch and this band was spectacular.

I am amazed at the depth with which you look. Thanks for this, it is so enriching. I feel you really should really dig into Elvis's religious roots to see what his musical base was. He is not choreographed in terms of his moves - watch his rehearsals and see that his persona is exactly the same. The music and how that all came together was rehearsed of course but he did not have reams of choreographers, lighting, pyrotechnicians, like so many artists have now. Not many artists who can just entertain. His charm I undeniable- even all these years later. I would've loved to have been born decades before I was to see him live!!!

When Elvis is looking at that sheet of paper that he pulled from his jumpsuit, it isn't because he forgot the lyrics to the song, it's because he had been down in the audience earlier kissing a bunch of the women in the audience and some girl slipped a note to him by tucking it into the jumpsuit . He has just discovered it and stops in the middle of the song to read it, then hands it to a band member. Check out the 1970 live version of Love Me Tender , and you'll see how he leaves the stage and takes a walk through the audience kissing the girls along the way.

@@johnbattles1002 I have no source of information about the note or what it said.... Obviously, it's a note because he stops and reads it . @johnbattles1002
@johnbattles1002 2 жыл бұрын
@@ronaldhol9175 , "....so I assume it was placed there..." Assumption is not Fact. Assumption can be based on fact and first-person observation (as was usually the case with Sherlock Holmes); but Assumption, in and of itself, is not Fact. Assumption may lead to Fact, but it is not Fact. What you have assumed, I would say is probably true, knowing how wild they were about him -- or it may be a totally different reason for the note. It could have been placed there by a band member as a joke, or it might be a dozen other reasons. Those are all assumptions, not based on fact or observation, because I was not there at the concert 50+ years ago, watching his every move in the audience or on stage. So, the ONLY thing I can do, or you can do, is assume, as you yourself have stated. "May," "might be," "could have been" are not factual terms; they are subjective terms. You made your original statement as a Fact -- "...it's BECAUSE he had been down in the audience earlier ... and some girl slipped a note to him..." That is an objective statement of fact (though non-provable), when it would have been more accurate to say "...it's [likely] because he had been down in the audience earlier ... and some girl [possibly] slipped a note to him..." I apologize for the long reply and explanation for something a half century ago that really does not even matter at all in the grand course of things today. But what does matter are the importance of words, their clarity, implications, and interpretations. Hope you have a blessed day! 🙂👍

@ Venice Magic ; 1st : "Polk Salad Annie” is a 1968 song written by Tony Joe White. Its lyrics describe the lifestyle of a poor rural Southern girl and her family. 2nd ; It's southern cooked greens dish made from pokeweed a nutritional powerhouse, but can be toxic if it's not prepared with caution ! People from the south - were Elvis was from - know this .3rd ; That note contained the second part of the lyrics and NOT some room number of some girl ,that's a made up lie ! 4th ; Elvis was known to cover other people's songs - he liked - and even improved / made it better , the song so people thought it was his . You’re acting kind of naive in your commentary about Elvis, since you have already reacted to several of his performances. I agree with most of what you are saying, especially in comparison to modern performers. One more thing though, Elvis was global back in the 1950’s.

I feel like what you call naive it is just me trying to experience everything of the performance even if i revisit something i already said😊 it also helps develop my previous thoughts on him and i agree you in that since it was in the 1950s people were a lot more down to earth themselves 😊 quite nice times

He is imitating placing Polk Salad in a tote bag. The slaves had to do that. They worked fast. It was a racist song. No one can be in public in this generation singing this. Polk salad is in collard green food groups. Slaves picked Polk salad. Poor blacks ate Polk salad Truly racist but good!!!

The reason this is performance is so foreign to you is because. Modern Western women are used to simp men. Ya.... in the West women have become masculine and men have become increasingly feminine. But it's just the opposite of what we are hardwired to be attracted to. Most women want a man to be a masculine protective partner. And that's what Elvis was.

In 1973 he did the Aloha from Hawaii concert which was beamed via satellite and reached an estimated 1.5 billion people. But I think Elvis was global.since he made his first movie in 1956.
