Billy's mum was Davada 'Dee' Stanley who married Elvis's dad Vernon in 1960 so it was 2yrs after Gladys died that Billy and his brothers met Elvis. 3 months after Elvis died she and Vernon divorced and less than two year later Vernon died June 26th 79.Dee wrote two books running Elvis down and blaming him for her divorce.Priscilla once said Elvis couldn't stand her.Elvis didn't go to Vernon and Dee's wedding.

The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree !! Wouldn’t believe a word he said. Considering what his mother wrote in her book after Vernon passed.

No offense but how can he comment when he was never around 'during' the relationship or the interactions with his mother because she was obviously deceased. They loved each other but they all fought from what close sources said. 🤔 Strong or maybe stubborn? I have to say, Elvis treated them well although the whole situation was bizarre.
@TV-np9yp

Situation wasn’t bizarre. Their mother married Vernon. Her three boys were with Elvis for 17 years. Elvis cared for them and they cared for Elvis. Not bizarre at all. People somehow think the Stanley boys are so inconsequential and irrelevant. I’m sure they heard people associated with Gladys and Elvis, probably even Elvis himself discuss Gladys. Who would know better than them? Also, the movie is Baz’s take on Elvis. Neither he nor Priscilla or Jerry knew Gladys either.

Elvis had three stepbrothers. Elvis was a great “big brother” to them. Billy Stanley and Elvis’ cousin Billy Smith spent more years with and knew him better than anyone else. A more honest depiction of Elvis could have been had, rather than the sloppy, inaccurate depiction that those cashing in on his name and death portrayed. I hope someone does a real biopic of Elvis someday soon.

After watching the movie ( about a dozen times) I was like “ok”. Then listening to Pricilla I just knew in my heart that the movie was more about what Pricilla’s ( so called) words. When I stepped into Graceland in 1975 ( 12 yrs old ) with my dad and Mr. Vester ( Elvis’ uncle ) and went to the kitchen and I met Ms. Mary Jenkins for the first time . I was in love with her. She would talk about Elvis li❤e he was her son. She loved and adored him. So sitting there listening to her and Mr. Vester talk about Elvis ( who was not home at that time ). That was not the Elvis from the movie . Ms. Mary was like a grandmother to me after that. I got to see a lot of Graceland when Ms. Mary and I would walk around on the grounds and inside the house. So the movie was a watered down “ Pricilla “ version.

Billy wasn't around when Gladys was alive so he wouldn't have known about Elvis and his mother's interactions. And Vernon was soft when it came to standing up to Parker. He feared him.
@TV-np9yp
@TV-np9yp Жыл бұрын
Neither Baz, Priscilla or Jerry were around Gladys either. They wouldn’t know their interactions either. It is possible that over the 17 years Billy knew Elvis that Lamar or Vernon or Billy Smith, other relatives and even Elvis himself shared stories of Gladys and talked about her. I think they would know best.

I'll just say this, I have no reason to criticize Billy, ok...but in regards to Elvis not talking to his mother like that....wasn't Billy only about 5 yrs old when he met Elvis (someone can correct me if I'm wrong)? It was definitely after Elvis returned from the army and of course Gladys had already passed away. Therefore he never saw Elvis interact with his mom, again, since Elvis' mother had passed away when he first met Elvis at 5, or so. So it would have to be hearsay. It troubles me a bit that he speaks which such authority when he wasn't actually a witness. Hearsay can be quite unreliable. What I have heard is that Elvis and his mom had a very volatile relationship and had terrible fights...sometimes leading to the throwing of pots and pans and the like, and I find it hard to believe Elvis wouldn't have raised his voice in those instances. My understanding is that Gladys' temper was extremely fierce...and that Elvis had a temper to match. I recall hearing stories from people who themselves claim to have been witness to some of these highly intense fights--things being thrown etc, (I recall at least one entourage member, and a family member telling the stories. There didn't seem to be any debate about it being factual--as they explained the incidents with clarity and as if it was just a known thing that these very intense arguments occurred. I'm not saying I believe everything that comes out of any of those guys mouths--far from it--especially when claiming to know Elvis' inner thoughts, feelings, and motives...a lot of times they interpreted his behaviors and actions and only speculated on what was truly going on inside of him. I think they often take way too much liberty in claiming to know Elvis on a deeper level. I believe there was a lot about himself that he did not share and show to them. For one thing Elvis never told them about being in a lot of pain, a lot of the time, in the last 3-4 years. It wasn't his nature to share things like that, especially with them. Basically he was the leader and was always going to put on a brave face. Charlie Hodge is one person he shared those things with--I know because Charlie has talked about how much pain Elvis was in from his (life-threatening) intestinal condition, and severe glaucoma--both known to be extremely painful; both related to the high dosage of sleeping pills he took his entire life in order to sleep; the increasing dosage over the years from building up a tolerance and dependence causes all sorts of serious health problems including digestive problems, heart problems, and high blood pressure--Elvis had extremely bad cases of digestive problems and high blood pressure. He also apparently had sustained a back injury that caused him a lot of pain, according to Larry Geller (someone he would be open with). Elvis told Charle he didn't like to be drugged or high, and took only as much pain med. as he needed in order to function/perform. Charlie said sometimes Elvis was performing in a lot of pain. He also likely took only as much sleeping med. as needed to sleep---but it was a lot because he had built up such a tolerance from taking it regularly for so many years. He himself said in an interview that he couldn't wake up without dexetrine. That's because his body literally needed to be turned back on. Why he needed the sleeping pills to begin with is a whole other very long story. Also in matters of "the heart"--I'm sure he would show the guys his angers or frustrations with women in his life, but I doubt he ever really showed the real feelings in his heart. These are just a couple of examples...I'm sure there were so many things..concerns, wants, fears that they were never privy to. He showed different parts and aspects of himself to different people (like we all do). Sorry for the tangent....but it gets annoying when the people who were around Elvis speak things as if they are facts, when often they aren't facts at all--often times they are just their perceptions/interpretation...speculating about what Elvis thought and felt and why he did the things he did, and sometimes it's just hearsay.

First of all the new movie of Elvis is about America told through the life of Elvis during the time of segregation, narrated by Coronel Parker’s guilty conscious. Let’s get that straight ! Stanley wasn’t even around when Elvis hit it big and caused all the controversy about singing and acting in “ negro an@@@@ ways “ The movie hit on his contribution to music as a white man singing black sound making it acceptable . 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ I’m wondering if Stanley even saw the movie. Probably upset that he and his clan weren’t even mentioned. As far as I’m concerned, the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. Why doesn’t he explain the horrible book that his mother wrote after Vernon Passed. Ugh !

When I saw the movie thats the first thing I was like theres no way he talk to his Mom like that, when they lived on the corner of Getwell an Kimball my Grandma and her rode the same city bus to go shopping my Grandma said she was a nice quiet lady but could tell she was firm sure Elvis knew better than to talk to her nasty. Oh he also flirted with my Aunt he was always riding his bike an my Aunts name for him was a snotty nose brat 😂if she only had of known how he was gonna turn out.

Guys, it is all about the money!! Never forget that. This movie is a commercial setup. After 46 years still you hear different opinions from friends and relatives. You will never hear the entire truth of the life of Elvis because he was just a human being like each one of us trying to run a normal life with entertainment but the pressure and his physical problems most probably killed him. But that will never sell! The media creates a big mystery around Elvis as a person and the ball is rolling for each citizen to make their own opinions/stories. In addition I agree with the comment of @pammelashire2470 that the movie was more about Priscilla. If I remember well, Elvis didn't even want to marry Priscilla in the first place - this statement from Elvis was recorded if I remember well - when he spoke with Red West on the phone. My 2 cents.

First of all I got to change this picture I do not know why it got on there but it's been there for a long time anyway I'm so proud of you for saying that because I thought in the movie that Elvis would never talk to his mother like that and that his mother wasn't an alcoholic like that and they made his father seem like a very weak not caring father and I don't believe any of that I even sent a message over to Elvis's cousin stating that people are fighting over who was in the movie and who wasn't but they never stood up for the fact that the mom didn't talk like that more drink like that and about the father I just don't understand things but anyway God bless you I can't tell you how much we all appreciate you you're just a blessing and take care of yourself please always sending your blessing prayers love and hugs to you and your family
