Although he looks more like Elvis than anyone else, he doesn't embody his personality. Not Elvis at all. It seems like the actor was confident because he had THE LOOKS that he forgot to do his homework watching Elvis's performances. Austin, on the other hand, got Elvis inside his body. Amazing 👏👏🙄

WHAT?!? He looks nothing like Elvis! He is “imitating” Elvis. Austin Butler embodied Elvis … not just his music … his soul, his spirit, his humanity. No comparison IMO

This biopic is what made me actually start listening to Elvis, on my own and not with my mother, because I asked her if it was really Elvis who was singing and ehe said, "Of course." However, now that I am no longer an Elvis novice, I can see that he isn't acting as Elvis, he's impersonating him. However, considering how wonderful of an actor Jonathan Rhys Meyers is really speaks to how difficult, and challenging it is to take on the role of Elvis which makes Austin's performance that much more impressive.

I agree that Austin, with his years of preparation & introspection, was able to channel Elvis truly & realistically. However, JRM also did a more than adequate job of portraying the King. His 'dancing', while not an exact match, certainly had an Elvis 'vibe' & I am impressed more than I thought possible (after Austin). Also, JRM is EXTREMELY ATTRACTIVE & he is an amazing actor in his own right.

Elvis was such perfection anyone will come off as one of dozens of impersonators but a movie that can really capture Elvis’s story and influence on the world musically makes the difference.

To be fair, Johnathan didn’t get paid nearly as much as Austin plus he also had significantly less prep time which I think was only merely two weeks before shooting began. There’s a reason why his dancing is a bit awkward and his voice isn’t 100% there. I do think Johnathan could’ve been the better Elvis had he been given the passion to do this project and it had a significantly higher budget. He looks incredibly similar to the real Elvis and had he gotten the moves and voice down, it would’ve been uncanny. Austin however is still the king at portraying The King.

@@ruthbashford3176 I gotta be honest I loved the Myers performance but Austin looks a hell more like Elvis than Myers. Just take a look at the “If I Can Dream” comparisons!! Myers in the If I Can Dream scene is over exaggerating his movements and his face looks NOTHING like Elvis’s, unlike Austin’s version, which at the very least looks passable.

I really don't see why it's always about looks here. No one will ever look like Elvis. And obviously the people who have played him are first and foremost actors. Not impersonators. Looks mean nothing if you can't back it up with a performance and in terms of performance which is what matters most, Austin is far far better than Jonathan Rhys Meyers.

I didn't like this movie because Jonathan Rhys Myers didn't have the "mojo" that Kurt Russell and Austin Butler gave in performance as Elvis. The hair and makeup dept failed this film.

This is Elvis TV mini series. ITs not the movie Elvis that's out now 2022. Altho the actor I'm this doesn't look like Elvis and no one ever will he played the part good. But Kurt Russell played Elvis brilliantly. I'm looking forward tp seeing the new Elvis movie.

@@Hjuu356 I respectfully disagree. He's so stiff and his face just looks so stern and not the friendly and really good looking face that Elvis had. The man had a smile that was timeless, I'm not even sure if Jonathan Rhys Meyers here is even able to Crack a smile lol. Watch the latest movie. Where Austin Butler lacks in looks, he totally makes up for in the performance. He totally without exaggeration embodies Elivs. The moves, mannerisms and the cutting down to the humanity and core of Elvis, he was incredible. If you watch the comparison video of Austin and Elvis on this same channel, you'll see what I mean.

Apart from not looking like Presley, it is not enough to try and emulate the king, he must embody the man, which he fails to do. There is a strong centre to Presley, from where his performance emanates, that, is what makes for the man. It's a formidable creative strength, an inner life learnt from where he came from, that burns through.

This is Johnathan Rhys-Myers a good actor, but in this instance he did a shit job not to mention he doesn’t have Elvis’s charisma or looks. Austin may not look exactly like Elvis but he nailed him, is gorgeous and captured Elvis’s charisma. That’s a TALL order. Plus he sang. No other actor has done his own singing.

Always remember that JRM didn't have the amount of time Austin did in order to prepare for such a big role. If he did.. I'd image he'd be much better than this offering.

@@alexpetrisor5168 JRM openly said he hated doing it and wasn’t invested. And you can’t rehearse charisma. Also the reason Austin got the gig in the first place was his work ethic something others couldn’t match. That’s directly from Baz.

I think you jumped the gun and got some audition outtakes from the floor because none of these scenes are Austin Butler. It only takes a couple looks at the trailer to verify this.

That Elvis movie is going to suck if this anything to go by. He does not look like Elvis and his movements or interpretations are no where near Elvis'. He looks like a parody of Elvis. Did he not watch any of the clips? He sucks at being Elvis. Honestly, who thought this was a good idea or that he was the best Elvis?
