So cool. Unreal that those ole benches were still there. No wonder Gladys and Vernon were in disbelief. I have watched the footage of Elvis playing there and he was awesome even outside. Thanks Spa Guy for details I didn't know. Love your Elvis videos. God Bless.

Amazing video reviving a wild and explosive time in entertainment history. What a ride it was for the young Elvis and his family! Those bleachers, now poignantly rusted, abandoned and silent, endure as a powerful testament to the screams of adoration that carried Elvis to the pinnacle of global stardom. And yet, as the echoes of those screams fade into history, Elvis Presley remains firmly and forever positioned as the King of Rock 'n' Roll!

Thank you for all your historic information. I did not know Hank Garland played at the 1957 show. I first heard of him as part of the great band backing Elvis in Hawaii pearl harbor 1961. At the 1956 Tupelo show, one of the troopers on duty was Guy Hovis' father. Guy was a performer on the Lawrence Welk TV show in the 1970s. He was born and raised in Tupelo.

It is so ironic to watch this video today Spa Guy my friend. Last year on this very day the 8th of April I was in Tupelo at that very spot holding Elvis’s hand and taking a picture to bring back home to Australia to show my family. Going back to Memphis one more time soon. ❤️🕺🏻

Totally fascinating and also very sad! My wife and i sat in those bleachers on a memorial trip back in '87 to have our photo taken along with a 1000 other fans. A very atmospheric place, i did not realise it had been pulled down. Incredible research Spa Guy, thank you so much. Here's to many, many more!!

Hi Spa Guy from the UK. Great video as always. It was whilst watching and in particular the bit about the shirts that Elvis wore on stage, that I was reminded about a British comedian, TV personality, Frank Skinner. this is Franks storey..............In the late 90's, at a pop memorabilia auction in Christie's of London, British comedian Frank Skinner paid out the sizeable sum of £11,200 for a blue velvet shirt, once owned by Elvis Presley, and to have been worn by him during a famous hometown concert back in the 50's. Frank believed his purchase to be genuine; "The picture used to illustrate it was from a concert that Elvis did in 1956. September 26th, 1956,in Tupelo". Frank made a documentary of his journey to discover the authenticity of the shirt, during which he goes to Tupelo and many other places, meets lots of Elvis characters along the way. But more so he goes to the fair graounds and we get the chance to see them as they were before the changes that were made and mentioned in your video Billy. The link for the documentary is kzfaq.info/get/bejne/f9-SkpSqm6msc5s.html The title of the documentary is 'A Little Bit Of Elvis' - Frank Skinner (1998 Documentary) Enjoy, it is good.

in the documentary by Frank Skinner in 1998 all the place and the original seats were still there...Elvis Fans are completely crazy, we would go and get the bleachers and frame them in gold and keep them like it was touched by his hands. We adore the bleaches just because Elvis' eyes looked across them. And we celebrate the fact that they are still around..somewhere :D, The picture with his parents in colour is beautufil. The look of Gladys Presley is one of an enamored mother. Thanks Spa Guy for all the nice videos pictures and information you provide us.

Great video!!! I have wondered how it felt to be Bill Black during this time. Scotty was able to leave some memories in his books and it always felt to me as if Scotty was more interested in the experience than in the fame or money, although he would have liked a bigger piece of the pie. But Bill was the heart of the show in the early days while Elvis was learning the ropes of stage performance. Bill was smooth and brought in a lot of laughs and kept the show rolling when it might have faltered. It may have felt to Bill as if he was the star. And it would have been great to see your friend succeed quickly and even to outpace you because you did have a hand in it all. But eventually Bill was forced to realize Elvis was the star. To have the same dreams and to have been through many of the same experiences and to have been striving longer than Elvis, it must have really been hard for Bill. Here is a link to a vintage newspaper from 1956 with an amazing ad offering Free Elvis Record with Shoe Purchase - 10/18/1956 thomaston.advantage-preservation.com/viewer/?k=elvis%20presley&i=f&d=01011880-12312016&m=between&ord=k1&fn=thomaston_express_usa_connecticut_thomaston_19561018_english_6&df=21&dt=30

Hi Billy. I’m from the UK and have just returned from Tupelo/Graceland/Nashville CMA Fest and thanks to your video we found the bleachers and I sat on them! Absolutely awesome, til I saw a snake skin and realised there might be snakes around! Thanks so much for what you and your guys do, it makes the visit so much more interesting. By the way, I also seen Elvis’ bike hanging up in Graceland after watching your other video. I visited Graceland 11 years ago and walked right past it without noticing! Keep up the good work.
