the thumbs down are the haters who probably didn't even research him and what he did to break down the barriers between white folks then and black music. He put an injection into the black music and didn't care what the white folks thought then. Sadly just like then there is still ignorant people and also jealousies through false accusation easily injected someone's hatred and poisonous thoughts towards this man. if you a non Elvis fan but other singers, groups, whatever, just always remember he was the one that pave the way for all the different music that we love and enjoy today. he was the inspiration, and the starter of believe in yourself. He said there is a room for everyone in music. So hate or thumbs down all you like Elvis lives on. The Echo will never die. Good, kind hearted, humantarian men or women are never forgotten. Elvis he brought happiness to the heart of little, young and old generations to date.

Hopefully the thumbs down are because of the video and audio quality. Too bad they didn't have better recording technology back then

@@kellythomas1933 I agree. I always think it’s best just to ignore thumbs down & negative comments. After all, unless people are saying lies about Elvis, they are entitled to their opinion. And many of these negative people just do it to upset or anger fans. Best not to give them that satisfaction.

Hello from WOW This footage of ELVIS is so clear and the sound quality is JUST AMAZING. We can only feel blessed that we can watch this 65 years on and see ELVIS into his 'JOURNEY' to fame and fortune and by this time he had 'made it. Although his JOURNEY WAS SHORT he crammed a lot into it. When he was a kid and then a teenager he was "DIFFERENT". His hair was different, he had his own "style" and got bullied for it but the other kids were JEALOUS really.

Same here, i wish I was born 20 years before or step into a time machine back to 1956 & see Elvis live & I would want to stay in the '50's & never come back to 2020. My aunt saw Elvis live in Seattle in 1957 when he was on a west coast tour promoting his new movie "Jailhouse Rock". I used to know another guy who saw that same show & he said all you heard was the screaming & not the music. What an exciting era.

Fearless, peerless young Elvis. 1956 must have been like a dream after all his years of struggle. The elders finally began to respect his art, his Mama was there to enjoy it, his movie career took off, he bought his first home, and so much more. He was only 21 years old and nothing seemed beyond his reach. Yet he managed to remain so cool, rooted and humble.

He changed so much when it came to music. I truly wish that Elvis would have never met Col. Parker so he could have toured outside of the United States. He not only held him back but robbed him for 50% of his earnings. He will always be the King ! And will never be forgotten.

His mother was really bothered by it and would have panic attacks and as result turned to drinking which eventually killed her. At one point she wanted Elvis to quit and "go back to how things use to be". She was a woman with a lot of mental issues in my opinion. When she died Elvis was destroyed and he never recovered which in my opinion eventually killed him. What ever she did with him wasn't normal nor how she reacted to his success.

It is difficult to place oneself in an era in which one's parents were but young grade schoolers. My parents would have been about 8 or 9 years old when this was filmed. Yet I find myself intrigued with Elvis, where he came from, and what he became. To see a man on stage just dancing around a bit and shaking his leg is very mild. But I guess in 1956 it was risqué. At least they say it was so. At any rate, this man created Rock-n-Roll Music as it were. I am proud to know that it was borne out of the Deep South. Elvis was as Southern as it gets. He could have taken Europe by storm as did the Beatles in the US. But Elvis will forever belong to the history of a great country that internally many try in vain to destroy.

The recording studios back then didn't really employ many tricks, a bit of echo possibly. Unfortunately the sound here has been pulled from the tinny sounding P.A system, they had amps on stage but it was also fed through the big pa system that was meant for announcements, not good for music

@@jeanmarcks6269 yes for recording a live outside broadcast for 50s T.V. But sound recordings done in the studio dont sound much different now to then. Back then it was more realistic, closer to what they sounded like live, today it's so multi layered, overdubbbed and processed, bands sound nothing like their studio recordings, most resort to spending more time on theatrics, smoke, lighting, explosions etc, it's almost like going to a theatre to watch a musical than watching a band play, they are all lost on stage amongst dozens of dancers, smoke billowing up from the stage, lasers criss crossing the stage and huge tv screens, often showing other concert footage and animations. Sometimes its make you wonder if the live bands today even need to bother showing up. I guess people come to see them in a show, not really bothered by the music, just the atmosphere. But I guess that's what people want and therefore that's what they are fed

This is great Black and white footage that gives everyone a taste of the excitement Elvis generated! He was an unstoppable cultural force of nature! Amazing! It’s a shame no one filmed a whole show from the front of the stage in color of an entire show for posterity! I guess the Colonel didn’t care about documenting the early shows. According to legend, at one point Elvis got down and start rolling around on the stage with the statue of the RCA dog ("Nipper"). Did that really happen? (Maybe during the segment of "Hound Dog" where the film cuts away to audience shots and stills, as if we're not allowed to see what Elvis is doing at that point?)

Spontaneous and spectacular moves by the great Elvis, compared to today's choreographed and rehearsed moves ...

I love the way Elvis keeps laughing. Everything he ever did should have been taped...its crazy that it wasn't! EVERY concert should have been taped. We are so lucky for the ones we get to see on KZfaq. Thanks for sharing this video!

Elvis was on TV twelve different times in 1956-57: Dorsey Brothers Show (6), Milton Berle Show (2), Steve Allen Show (1), and Ed Sullivan Show (3). For some reason, no one has seen fit to release all of these together on a DVD or other format. Should be a no-brainer, right?

I was only 5 in 1956 living in Nj so couldn’t have seen Elvis. I remember watching live me tender on tv. My mom made my sisters and me be quiet during the movie. She was enamored with The King.

Everyone can see how Elvis took the music world by storm. The originator, the best, only he knew he was special and fulfilled his ambitions to thrill and inspire a generation of musicians to follow in his footsteps.

The Hillbilly Cat! Elvis the Pelvis! The Memphis Flash! He set the World on Fire! He was something else! A Twentieth Century Phenomenon that will never be repeated just like the Beatles another amazing phenomenon! But Elvis was First! Even John Lennon said that before Elvis there was nothing! Two Legendary Rock Acts that changed the World!

Kevin Prima You could probably add Frank Sinatra to those three. Early Sinatra in his young Prime was similar to Elvis. Girls would screen and swoon at all his concerts. Plus the unmistakable voice and singing style is iconic.
