Emacs: customize fonts (generic method and 'fontaine' package)

In this ~27-minute video, I show how to configure fonts in Emacs. I explain what "faces" are and how the `default`, `fixed-pitch`, and `variable-pitch` faces work. I demonstrate the built-in `variable-pitch-mode` and then discuss how to change preset font configurations with the help of the `fontaine` package (one of my packages).

C-M-x or just ESC C-x can eval the whole top-level form you are standing inside of. That way you don't have to keep finding the end of the expression, just so you can do C-x C-e. You can just stay in place where you are editing and you can immediately continue editing after C-M-x

You are right. I did it in the video at some point. But it does not work in Org mode.

Hello @Prot! Great video as always! I have one question: When using the built-in `set-face-attribute` here's the documentation for `weight`: ``` :weight VALUE specifies the weight of the font to use. It must be one of the symbols ultra-heavy, heavy (a.k.a. black), ultra-bold (a.k.a. extra-bold), bold, semi-bold (a.k.a. demi-bold), medium, normal (a.k.a. regular, a.k.a. book), semi-light (a.k.a. demi-light), light, extra-light (a.k.a. ultra-light), or thin. ``` In there they mention `semi-light` as opposed to `semilight` (with no hypen). Can you expand on this? Also, if all I want is `regular` should I set it to `normal`?

You are welcome! After you do the modifications, you need to evaluate the code again. In the case of Fontaine, you can re-run the command 'fontaine-set-preset'.
