Embankments, Roads, Scenery, & Station Details - New Layout - Part 5 - Yorkshire Dales Model Railway

This week I make more progress on the new layout.
Firstly, I added a water tower and some station details. I placed ground signals along the track, as well as a station starting signal.
Next up I used Woodland Scenics polyfibre, hairspray and flock to make bushes to cover the embankments. This is a good method to cover any areas not easily covered by the static grass.
Thirdly, I added the station road using Geoscenics road kit:
www.geoscenics...
I put the powder straight down onto Geoscenics glue, then smoothed this down with a bit of scrap plastic. I added some Peco fencing along the length of this. A road of cottages/a shop will go the other side.
Lastly, after adding another tree, I used filler to tidy up the road tunnel. I’ll paint this next week once it’s dry.
Next week it’s back to the main layout for some summer running.

There are moments when I quite lose myself in your world. It seems more real than real and it is with a jolt I see the corner of a wall or a ten foot hand or a too smooth bit of something that hasn’t been weathered yet. It is so clever, creative and perfect. Chapeau!

I just learnt something new. That cool trick with the hairspray and foliage. The final result is brilliant. Even after 50 plus years in the hobby I'm still learning ( from experts such as your good self ) and think thats great. The hobby that just keeps on giving. And the new layout is looking superb by the way.

Hi Lewis. What can I say that I haven't said before. This is turning out really well and those trees are superb and bring the countryside to life. With the railway and scenery plus a nice choice of buildings, you really have achieved a nice natural looking overall balance. Only part 5 and the amount of detail is amazing. Took me years to get this far on my layout. I like you added the shunt signals which are often missed on other layouts. Not wanting to sound picky but the one behind the station going into the goods shed would have a yellow bar instead of red. These can be passed in the ON position like at danger, and when the points are set towards the main line the driver can only pass when in the OFF or proceed position where the disc is turned like you have it on the layout
