Hi friends!
This is a whole video in which the entire process of creating a dugout or you can say a Hobbit House.
In this video, I found and dug a place for a dugout, put up a frame, walls and made a stove.
He also made a bed, a chair, installed doors and windows.
I lined the roof from the beginning with a film, and then with moss, made a path and lined the dugout with stone. I made a crib for Loki.
And for dinner, he prepared fish, which he released into a small stone fish tank near the house.
The project itself turned out to be very interesting, cozy and reliable.
I hope you like it. All the best to you :)

I used to dig holes and tunnels to build small houses as a kid, this brother is basically living out my childhood dream of having a shelter in the woods. it's really nice
@Lizzye33
@Lizzye33 4 ай бұрын
Same!!! I was not allowed to dig much into our yard, which was pretty exposed, while the neighbors owned the surrounding woods. But every year when winter came, I would get to work building foundations and learning how to make shelters with snow and ice, and I was able to make furniture, passageways, insulated rooms, and almost everything but then the snow would start melting, and most of the walls would come from the heavy snow chunks from the salted roads about an acre away, (which was my yard,) so it would melt quicker. Every year they got even better, and i miss it!!! I moved to Florida, living in a complex with no yard or seasons. One day I hope to make a real one and live out my childhood dreams. :)

It's because it's faked. You can't make cement with just mud and water. They also use machinery and a bunch of people in the background between cuts. Stop being so naive to these outdoor building channels. They build these things and then leave them after ruining the landscape.

Thank you for doing things the right way! So many times I see bushcraft videos of them making a “cabin” or “dugout” but they don’t consider construction techniques that will aid in the shelter’s longevity such as ground water (water table) or wood rot from contact with moist soil. So thank you for making a beautiful hobbit hole that will last for some time!

But the longevity, waterproofing and heat retention he gained from a very small investment in modern materials is impressive. Overall brilliant. I tip my hat to you sir. Nice bed for Loki.

Also, if he isn’t collecting natural shale, my man literally brings out boards and shit as well as a cooking surface for the stove and a plastic tarp for the roof, he’s obviously not like. Committing to only getting stuff from nature to make this?

Amazing craftsmanship! And impressive physical capabilities on the part of the builder. The sawing and the digging alone take a tremendous amount of muscle strength and endurance. I don't know where this is located or the soil types or climate. It looks like they get abundant rainfall based on vegetation in summer. But as a stone mason, I'd be very concerned about moisture wicking, particularly through the mortar in the back wall and the floors. Staples through the plastic sheeting are likewise water-ways so double-sheeting might be a better idea (tacked in place with double-face tape). Some climates would definitely call for an effective drainage system around the foundation and where the roof water is funneled. Moisture barriers between all constructed walls and soil could increase the lifespan. That said, the builder is highly skilled. I'm sure he's intimately familiar with his site, local soils, and regional climate and designed accordingly. I appreciate the tips and inspiration!

I wondered about this as I watched. Very impressive, but I worry it would have serious moisture issues longer term.

It takes a certain type of a person to look at an area and visualize a structure that could become a living quarters and a work of art all in one. Along with his ability of construction and imagination, this man is it. It's beautiful and very well put together from what nature provides alone. I would absolutely live in this if I was wanting to get away from society and live off the land, trap, hunt and fish. I'd be very comfortable living here. Beautiful job friend 👍

It's because it's faked. You can't make cement with just mud and water. They also use machinery and a bunch of people in the background between cuts. Stop being so naive to these outdoor building channels. They build these things and then leave them after ruining the landscape.
@percussionist48
@percussionist48 4 ай бұрын
@@FarmerFpv it's not cement in the first place. It's made out of clay and it can hold together such a structure as this. I'm sure there might of been others helping during the cuts and was edited as if he did it alone, but everything he's done and created could easily be done with just the few tools he had. It could of taken him a month or so longer but very easily possible to the right talent, It's called craftsmanship!! Are you that clueless and untalented that you think this is impossible? If so, I say stick to your flower bed and don't dare trying anything that takes a talented man to do bc you'll just end up disappointed and with blisters on your hands. OR" maybe break a finger nail. This video offends some people bc they know they could think of doing such an easy task, for the few can such as a craftsman could.

I was wondering when someone was going to use the stove wood method of building. It really lasts a long time. I know of a barn near me that is over 100 years old and they used this method. They then plaster it. Over the years, the plaster fails if it isn't maintained, exposing the stove wood. Very few are left and the ones that are, they beg the owners to preserve them. This is a very nice job and an example of how beautiful the method is. If they can build a barn, this could be used to build a full size house! Also sustainable. The issue comes in when building codes won't allow anything other than stick built.

Absolutely 💯 love this. Cant wait to try it one day. I heard and witnessed that a mixture of sand, hay and mud, makes the best material to hold stones and limbs from trees together. It forms a sort of glue as the hay particles dry up. Loved living in a cobb house for a few months out west years ago. Beautiful hand made team effort. Gorgeous but unfinished. Needed tarps where windows were not inserted. Design was great. Enjoy your cozy hobitt home. ❤ Thanks for sharing this with us. 👌🔨✔️🙏💯✌️😇🙌
