when you tell the world you have never been outside America without saying it. Dudes... classical music is still huge and learning an actual instrument you don't plug in is still a pretty big thing. Local orchestras that get good crowd are a regular fixture in many towns... maybe modern tunes, or movie soundtracks, but they are still very much a thing. To each their own.. people are free to like whatever they wish, but your perception is wildly wrong outside the US. Also... do yourselves a favor and check 2Cellos - Thunderstruck, it's probably even worth reacting to

I’m lighting you up right now! Musicians telling people they shouldn’t listen to classical. And the awful characterization of a person who enjoys classical music was just at best distasteful. The works of Bach and Tchaikovsky transcends time man. And isn’t the whole reason with music to enjoy it? And isn’t it great when music lasts? Why bring it down on people who enjoy it let alone call them outcasts, when I got the impression of you being the same as me. This “above everyone one else because you are enjoying the wrong thing” attitude is lame. Jeez guys honestly
@jeffknight904

I hear you, Billy Laddy. All music genres are inextricably linked and all songs are written using the same symbol-set on the same five lines. In the late nineteenth/early twentieth century, classical music (principally through African-American composer Scott Joplin) gave birth to ragtime. American composer George Gershwin was instrumental in helping to create jazz from classical (he composed Porgy and Bess which was an opera that covered both genres). Blues developed from African-American spirituals which helped to shape 20th Century jazz including big band swing which, in the early fifties, combined with blues to became rock and roll. From the late sixties, rock and pop was heavily influenced by classical and jazz as they branched into prog-rock, art rock and psychedelic-rock. Metal band Metallica has long been heavily influenced by classical - particularly the work of German composer Richard Wagner. They, with others, including Apocalyptica (four classical cellists that formed as a Metallica tribute band) and Yngwie Malmsteen, helped to create the Cello-Metal and Neo-Classical Metal genres. Classical music is listened to by huge swathes of people on both sides of the Atlantic. Many popular songs have whole sequences copied from classical music. For example, the verse in All by Myself by Eric Carmen is lifted, almost note-for-note, from the second movement of Sergei Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto Number 2 and Procol Harum's Whiter Shade of Pale is a variation of Bach's Air on a G-String. Classical music is beautifully inescapable.

Hmmmm ok your opinion of people who like classical music is really childish and especially considering you call yourself a musician and yet still hold bias against a particular genre. You react to music ffs have you not learnt anything in your journey. Classical music is phenomenal and any musician worth his salt would study it at least a bit to progress their creative knowledge. Most heavey metal is based off classical music. Just for reference my Playlist consists of tool, nin, skinny puppy, pigface, Ren, Oasis, radiohead, slipknot, rage against the machine, Alice in chains, Bowie, rolling stones, Dr dre, the streets, snoop, Eminem, Barrington Levy, yellowman, Damien Marley, ledbelly, nirvana and plenty of classical, blues, jazz etc etc etc. I'm not rich and i have plenty of freinds. Your view of classical music is very immature and ruins your credibility as both a musician and a reactor. Awesome reaction btw.

I'd also like to add to my previous comment. Jen losing Dan £32,000 is not as bad as what me and my cousin did. We forgot to put on a friends lottery numbers. He had played the same numbers since the very first lottery night. The only reason he couldn't put his own numbers on was because he was having his driving test. He'd paid £800 for one of those "guarantee pass your test in a week" courses. Anyway, he matched 5 out of 6 numbers but his 6th number matched the 'bonus ball'. If we had put his numbers on then he would have won around £350,000, over a third of a million. This was about 25 years ago and he still refuses to talk to me. We often see each other in the local supermarket, he just leaves his shopping and walks out of the store. Hahaha. To really rub salt in the wound the reason he was late back and couldn't put the numbers on himself is because he crashed the car doing his final driving exam.

Guys, seriously, look, I know some classical music doesn't communicate well with us modern men, but some might do it, you know? Like, for example, I really like the Minecraft OST, which was composed by C418, and some months ago I discovered a classical composer called Erik Satié who's songs must have served as inspiration for C418, because they have a very similar style, it's really nice. And he's not the only one, there really is a lot of composers and compositions worth giving a try.

This was still early on in the internet days where they didn't require email authentication to confirm an account, and there wasn't a way to delete the account or stop the emails as you couldn't change the account info. I had lots of replies so I tried to make my profile utterly weird so no-one would want to meet up with me and I wouldn't get any emails. It didn't work, despite me changing the profile (with no picture) saying I was a 7'4" black albino Buddhist living in the Himilayan mountains who was obsessed with aliens and conspiracy theories. (it's been so long to remember it all but there was a lot of other weird shit included too) I still managed to get one reply from a woman living in London who was a hairdresser saying that if we met up she'd give me a free hair cut. If I was living in the Himilayan mountains how would we ever meet?!

Hmmm, are you serious about classical music guys? I think you made a big mistake with your silly off hand comments there! Looking down the comments, you deserve the backlash.

Why do so many people have to turn their music tastes into their whole personality? And then on top of that, sh*t on anyone who likes other music? It just reeks of insecurity. Like whatever music you like, if it makes you happy, than who gives a crap. If you only listen to one genre, or refuse to listen to a genre, then it's clear you don't actually care about the music, just the image being a fan of it gives you.

Fair play to speak your mind. But I don't think you can call yourself a musician with that assumption of classical music. You kinda exposed yourself as being a typical country boy musician right there. Oops!

The Flamenco singer was the writer of this and Father Ted, Graham Linehan. He's been having a lot of problems from the more rabid sections of the trans community lately for sticking up for women and children, he's an absolute genius writer.

If you are dissing classical music please name 10 classical pieces that you have listened to from start to finish to determine you didn't like it? Or did you just conclude that classical music is just old fuddy-duddy music and have dissed it based on your perception of when it was made and who you assume listens to it now.
