No, you dont. But you will have a better fit if you place the blade under the inner sole.

I am also footdrop patients last 32 month because of common peroneal nerve injury. Plastic sergeon said there is 30 percent chance of dorsiflexion after Tandon sergery in my case. But it will be partial and also may be fail
