Kenworth T409 SAR at Work

McKinnon Earth Movings Kenworth T409 SAR is shown as it heads for their quarry at Barfold ( Redesdale, Victoria, Australia ). A John Deere 824K is then shown performing the loading duties.
The Kenworth has a Cummins ISX at 550 hp, has a tare of 20t, and a gross of 68.5t for the combination.

Was this rig once a prime mover (or tractor to Americans)? I suspect a lot of short wheelbase dump trucks in Australia were, when new?

Hi the reason the drawbar is so long is for weight distribution regulations, not so good for tight situations .Cheers.

I used to spend all weekend polishing up my Truck Monday Morning this is the way the yard looks all muddy . then you have to weave your way around the Mud puddles on the way in and out . Don't you just hate that . I Did.

Australia road rules, wagon tongue is long to minimize weight in one area, west coast USA states have similar weight laws.

from kansas usa I was wondering how many tons (2000lb tons) did you dump on the truck and how many tons did you dump on the trailer? Just curious from the USA

festus51 it would probably weigh in at about 50+ tons, really depends on the stuff that they’re putting in it.

Pretty cool. But if you that's big, check out some of Mich gravel trains, short doubles or 5 axle dumps. Remember Mich has a 160,000 lbs weight limit, so they have gotten very inventive how to space axles.

BC and we have 10 axle b-trains that carry 4 bundles of medium length logs. 174,000kg.

Nothing to do with spreading the weight. It is to give more room for jack-knifing the trailer / dolly when tipping the rigid body.

Longer the draw bar slower the dolly turns when reverseing also for jack knifing trailer so he can tip first bin

What payload you get and what's your gross weight? And hete in Ontario Canada we have tri-axle lead with a tri-axle pup and the toung the long bar yous call ..ours all the weight sits on ours and we load always heavy to the front and never load more weight in the back trailer then the front ..it will push you cause it looked like you got 2 in the lead and 3 in the trailer?? That's a no no here just cause of the common sense of the weight will push your lead but I dunno if it was 3 for sure cause it went to a different seen then back so I'm not 100%sure ..can you dump that without dropping the trailer . I love the looks of your rig man...just fuckn old school looks all the way but all new ..and the way yous have your breathers stand up tall . .love the round headlights and the cab overs the new ones there look fucking awsome and wish we would catch on to how you build trucks and they look mean . Anyways I get on my dump truck I get 23kg and on my pup my trailer I get 20.5 of 43.5 kg....I would love a w900 kw with a flat top bunk and a 30 wheel base and a c16 cat motor juiced up to 800 hp .. look then up in Montreal they juice them up to huge power with a boat motor chip and program and fuck me thy blow black smoke in every gear just fuck'n love that black smoke every gear and shifting at very low rpms so the 8" stacks will just make that kitty cat sound fuck'n mean and anyways a glider kit with with a cat motor with a 18 spd double over 2050 torque but if juiced up way more but I'm talking jut a work truck .. but before I forget since I'm all over the fucking map here lmfao your breathers are set up that way cause of the water / rivers yous gotta go through at times? Ok boys be safe man keep the rubber side down mud flaps straight back ànd get er done 10-4 copy that driver Roger that beep beep lmfao if any of yous care to see my rig up here ask I'll send pics so you can see that he fuck'n junk we got lol
