This is so helpful! Looking for a career change and thinking about medical scribe as an option. I'm a teacher by profession so I don't have healthcare experience. Do companies accept resumes from people like me with no healthcare experience? And would this experience help get other health related jobs? Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge! Best of luck in your medical journey 😊
@brialeixx
@brialeixx Жыл бұрын
Yes. I had virtually no medical experience nor knowledge before applying. However, medical scribes do not pay well if you’re using it as your main form of income. It’s mainly for getting medical experience to get into another healthcare profession. Hope this helps!!

Hello!! I’m going into my first year of college as a health services major and on the pre dental track! I was wondering if scribing would be good even though I am pre dental?
@brialeixx

There are a couple of dental cases we see in the emergency room but it’s every once in awhile. I feel like it would still help you get a feel for the health field and it might get you some good connections!! Good luck :)

What state are you in and did you sign up for part time scribing or full time ?
@brialeixx
@brialeixx 2 жыл бұрын
I’m in Tennessee and we don’t necessarily sign up for full time of part time. We just give them our availability. They expect us to work at least 6 shifts a month. Sometimes we get less and sometimes more.

Did you get increase in pay. If yes, then how often. Because I am also about to confirm my job with Scribe America, and they offered me $12 for training, and then $13 on my solo shifts. And I am also a sophomore who’s planning on going to med school. Btw love ur videos.

Oh that’s actually nice. Our final pay was $12. So $13 is better. Our local hospital didn’t give us raises. ScribeAmerica may be different though. Good luck and thanks for your support 🫶🏼

How often do you see people scribing with laptops? Is that possible?
@brialeixx

I’ve only seen people take notes with iPads. I’ve heard other hospitals may do it but it’s heavy to be carrying around. It’s posible but pen and paper is the most efficient in my opinion.

We actually had some scribes who did not finish due to other commitments. So it’s more about being professional. If you stay for the length of your contract, you will maintain a good relationship with the company and can work for them in the future, get a letter of rec, etc. Hope that helped!!

theoretically you’re not suppose to be able to smell anything through an N95 mask. so they’re testing to see if you can wear one correctly and also testing to see if you need a small, medium, or large mask :)
