It’s 5 am and my sos sound went off, for no reason. Then it said dialing 911. Literally the most scary noise I’ve ever heard.

The sound being on is a tricky topic. Personally, I keep it off in case I am in a situation where I am trying not to be heard. For example, if I am abducted and I don't want my predator to quickly get away from the crime scene (because they may now know that I sent my location to someone). Or if I am hiding from a predator.

I accidentally discovered this feature today! I had several text messages and missed calls from my emergency contacts. I was terrified when I saw that. I thought someone died!! Turns out my phone sent an emergency sos alert with my location.

I accidentally did this once and thought the sound was an EAS test on my phone because it was a new phone, and then it started dialing 911. I thankfully managed to cancel the call before it called them.

I accidentally did it in school meaning that my teacher took away my phone

*idk why he didn’t say this but You can set off a SILENT sos on iPhones by hitting the power button 5 times in a row and 3 times for Android!!! Try it, it will pull up the screen with the swipe for sos* so if you’ve been kidnapped and don’t want the perp to take your phone and smash it You can do that instead!

I activated mine in my pocket one time. Good thing I had that sound on or I wouldn't have known I was calling 911. The dispatcher was pretty cool about it, she said it happens all the time.

I hate it! I unintentionally activated it while trying to turn off my phone. I wish I could remove it. "911 send button" is good enough for me in an emergency.

I think the reason why they disable biometric unlocking after emergency sos is because maybe someone can try to unlock your phone via your fingerprint when you’re passed out

Tip: if you are on iphone7 or below if you want to activate sos 🆘 click the power button 5 times

The alarm sounds basically telling the assailant that they have at least 10-15 minutes to do whatever they want to do to you since you’re using your phone to try to ward someone off 😂

If you want, you can turn off that countdown sound in settings. Look up emergency sos in settings.

Idk if that is for the older iOS but the newer one you can turn off the warning sound for the SOS countdown on your iPhone if you scroll all the way down passed your emergency contacts

I mainly go to the slider screen whenever I need to turn my phone off

In iOS 14 they’ve disabled the “countdown sound” toggle probably for the reason you said as I went in to the sos settings and it didn’t come up on there

In Europe it's usually 112

In Germany there are two different Telefon # for the Fire- / Medical Department (112) and the police (110)

My daughter damaged her phone in Cornwall uk she could not make any calls or use the internet but what she could do is turn the SOS on her phone it was sending us message while she was travelling back home telling us her Location right up to where she lived by the time she was home we had over 50 messages brilliant bit of kit

China has 3 emergency numbers 110:Police 120:Medical 119:Fire but 110 can also dispatch fire and medical emergencies, just like 911.

I was playing on my vr headset with my phone inside it, and then I decided to take it out… but then it got JAMMED in the slider inside the vet headset!! My phone off button was wedged against the vr phone slot and it went to shut of iPhone or sos, then I made the biggest mistake :( I did was right to try and pull out the slider even though it was completely stuck. I was terrified when all of a sudden part of the slider inside the vr touched the sos!!!! The siren was going off like crazy and I immediately started to smash the vr against the wall and I eventually dismantled it with my bare hands. I could here the dispatch guy saying everything and I quickly said “oh wrong number, sorry didn’t mean to” then I hung up. 10minutes after I got a voicemail from the police saying if there was an emergency I needed to call them. It wasn’t an emergency of course, it was an accident so I switched off my phone and prayed for no police to show up to my door.

Hello, I have a question to ask anyone on here. My Iphone 7 display screen glitched out and now I can't do anything with the phone screen, this was obviously new to me and I assumed it was just frozen. I searched online and they said to hold the power button and the lower volume, which I did and the EMS sound went off(which I didn't know it was that at the time). I couldn't turn it off with my touch screen due to the display screwing up and I kept pushing the power off button which it then stopped. I got a phone call a couple seconds later but again I couldn't answer it because the display. My text messages I cannot see, and got two weird notification sounds. Usually if you don't answer that means a dispatcher has to go out and check right? but no one ever came. Does anyone know why?

In the end no one came they must have saw my location was at school and thought it was a mistake

Say your normal emergency number is 911, and you’re in a country where you don’t know the emergency number. I think even if you call 911 (or your normal number) it will call the emergency services for the country.

So I have a Huawei Nova 3i - I accidently triggered the emergency SOS and didn't manage to get it out of my pocket in time to cancel it. I know why it locks the touch ID, because if you're not okay, then somebody can steal your phone meant by unlocking it by using your finger, so if you dial it, then if somebody would take your phone, it would be locked.
